2018 Panini Contenders Draft Picks - All the Dodger Cards

There are just two Dodger cards to chase after in the 2018 Panini Contenders Draft Picks set, and they are prospects Keibert Ruiz and DJ Peters. Check them out below. Go here for a complete checklist.

As you know, this set focuses on mainly prep and college level ballplayers -- some of whom have been drafted and other who are likely to be soon. So, it's very possible that some of the kids in the set will be a Dodger soon. In meantime, there are two solid prospects available to chase after.

2018 Topps Now - #865 & #866 - Dodgers Advance on Manny's Homer

For awhile there I was getting worried. The Dodgers were down by a run going into the sixth inning and ended up taking a one run lead following a clutch two-run single by David Freese. But it wasn't until Manny Machado walloped a three-run dinger the following inning did I start to feel comfortable. Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“Can’t say enough about him,” said manager Dave Roberts. “Obviously with Manny and a player of his caliber, there are so many expectations put on him. And we said it from the beginning that it’s going to take all of us to win a championship, and he understands that. For him to put together some at-bats tonight, really quality at-bats, and obviously a game-changing home run…you look back at this series, his two homers essentially led us to two wins.”

WooHoo!

Thank goodness for David Freese and Manny Machado. They both factored heavily in yesterday afternoons victory. Freese knocked in the go-ahead runs in the sixth inning on a seeing-eye grounder through the left side. Then, Manny put the game away with an eye-popping deep drive to left. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"Tonight was actually pretty cool, to see a lot of those guys we've acquired over the last few months of the season come through," said general manager Farhan Zaidi.
...
"It's more special than I can even honestly say, because I didn't expect this," said Freese, who was acquired from the Pirates on Aug. 31. "I expected to finish in fifth and ride out this year, but to end up with not only a playoff contender but an organization like this is incredible. You get to be around these beasts in an organization that wants to go after it. It's a lot of fun."
