Here are some Details for Saturday's Old Timers Game - Check Out the Player Rosters

A tradition that had been abandoned many moons ago will be returning to Dodger Stadium this coming Saturday for a second straight year.  Shortly after the last pitch of Saturday's game against the Giants, the Dodgers will host an 2-inning Old-Timers Game.

The regular ballgame starts at 1:10 PM, so I would figure that the Old-Timers Game would be getting started about 3 hours later - 4:10 PM, or so.  Go here for more information.

The game will feature many former players who most of you will remember.  It's a "who's who" of beloved Dodger brethren, and a rare chance to see so many former Dodgers in one place.

BTW, the first 40,000 fans in attendance to the game will receive a vintage styled Dodgers pennant.  See it on the right.  Also, Tommy Davis, Charlie Hough, “Sweet” Lou Johnson, Manny Mota, Don Newcombe and Jerry Reuss will be on hand and a part of Old-Timers pre-game introductions.

Below is the scheduled Old-Timers Day roster:
Team 1 (will wear Dodger home jersey's)
  • Dusty Baker OF
  • Tim Wallach 3B
  • Mickey Hatcher SS/OF
  • Steve Sax 2B
  • Mike Marshall 1B
  • Reggie Smith OF/1B
  • Steve Yeager C
  • Raul Mondesi OF
  • Davey Lopes 2B
  • Darryl Strawberry 1B/OF
  • Ron Cey 3B
  • Eric Gagne P
  • Fernando Valenzuela P
Team 2 (will wear Dodger away jersey's)
  • Shawn Green OF
  • Derrel Thomas 2B/C
  • Bill Russell SS
  • Ken Landreaux OF
  • Eric Karros 1B
  • Rick Monday OF
  • Nomar Garciaparra 3B
  • Maury Wills SS
  • Steve Finley OF
  • Orel Hershiser P
  • Rick Honeycutt P
I think it'll be great to see El Toro and the Bulldog on the mound again. And, I'm willing to bet that Eric "Game-Over" Gagne stills has something left in the tank.

Oh... And you heard it here first.  I predict home runs by Shawn Green and Raul Mondesi - 'cause, why not.

Blog Kiosk: 5/7/2014 - Dodger Links - Kershaw was Ace-Tastic

Kershaw proves he is good to go.  He pitched 7 scoreless innings by spreading around 9 hits, striking out 9 and walking none last night.  He won his first game since Australia.  Graphic above via @Dodgers on twitter.
“Only time will tell that, right? I think 2013 is still fresh in everyone’s minds but mine,” League said. “This spring I said I’ve put it behind me and I just want to prove to myself that was an off year. All I can do is run out there and pitch well regardless of the results.”
The $5 fee is available in advance and the day of the game on a first-come, first-served basis. The special offer is being made on a trial basis.
  • Awesome!  Nathan Masters at Southland Blog writes, "How 19 Giant Earthmovers Carved Dodger Stadium Out of a Mountain."  There are plenty of photos.
  • Mercury Insurance is offering 10 pairs of complimentary tickets a day during an eight-week period from May 1 - June 30.
What you have to do to be entered into the drawing is complete an online Mercury auto insurance quote at: mercuryinsurance.com/dodgers.  You don’t have to buy a policy to participate.  Additionally, all winners will be entered into a grand prize drawing to win a Dodgers road trip for two to see the Dodgers and Padres play a pair of games at Petco Park in late August.
“I dont know. (coach) Darryl (Sutter) stresses no one has to be great. everyone just has to be good,” said Martinez. “We’re getting big plays out of a lot of different guys.”
  • Now you can throw a pie at Yahoo Puck Daddy writer Greg Wyshynski with the help of LA Kings mascot Bailey for charity.  They'll even give you tickets to Saturday's game.  Go here for the auction.
