These Reds are frustrating. They sit at the bottom of the Central Division; yet, they seem to have the Dodgers number. In five contest so far against them the Dodgers have won none. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"I wouldn't expect for our club to be 0-5 against anyone," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "That first time around they really pitched us well. We still can't figure a way to get Gennett out, and that was apparent again."Last nights 10-6 loss dropped the club to 1.5 games back of Colorado with 18 games to play.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1959 the Dodgers defeated reliever Elroy Face and the Pirates, 5-4; thereby, ending Face's consecutive win streak at 22. He finished the season going 18-1 (as a reliever, mind you) with a 2.70 ERA, 2.60 FIP and a 3.2 WAR. In 1998 Kevin Malone is named the Dodgers GM, replacing Tommy Lasorda. In 1983 RJ Reynolds squeezed home Pedro Guerrero in the ninth for an improbably walk-off victory against the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers scored four runs in the ninth to win. - Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com; "Jansen rejoins LA, faces offseason surgery: Reliever will undergo procedure similar to one in 2012."
After meeting with doctors late last week, Jansen said he will have a surgical procedure in mid-November like the one he had after the 2012 season. Both procedures were necessitated by an irregular heartbeat episode. In the '12 procedure, Jansen underwent a catheter ablation in the left atrium of his heart to cauterize a damaged area and stop it from generating abnormal electrical signals. He will need three months to recover, but as in '13, expects to be ready for the start of Spring Training.

- ICYMI: The Dodgers recalled pitcher Julio Urías from Triple-A Oklahoma City yesterday. Per a Dodger press release:
Urías, 22, is set to make his 2018 Major League debut after missing more than a year following left shoulder surgery in June 2017. The southpaw last pitched for Triple-A OKC yesterday against Memphis (Cardinals) in the PCL American Conference Championship, allowing one hit in 1.0 scoreless inning. In eight games (six starts) with OKC, Rancho Cucamonga and the AZL Dodgers this season, he posted a 5.40 ERA (7 ER/11.2 IP), while striking out 19.
