- This Day in Dodger History: In 1956 Carl Furrillo is the first Dodger player to hit a home run at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ. As you may know, the Dodgers played 15 home games there from 1956 to 1957.

“This really isn’t sinking in, I’ve never expected a day like this to arrive, especially here at Mazda Stadium after leaving for America all those years go,” said Kuroda, who added that he is expecting big things this season with the Carp — who have not won a pennant since 1991.
“The difference between the 199th win and the 200th is just one win for me, and I’ll now aim for the 201st. This team is the best I’ve played on in 20 years, a really good team not just with the regulars but also those on the bench. I want to win the league with them.”
- Liberatore's record streak of 28 consecutive scoreless innings ended on Sunday. Via Doug Padilla at ESPN; "End of record run will not soften Dodgers lefty Adam Liberatore."
"We’ve had to throw a lot of innings (in the bullpen), so it’s kind of been like a situation where you just have to go get these outs, or you’re just going to look bad giving up runs," Liberatore said. "You have to go get the job done. We all have to. We’ve had to do a lot, but we’re cool with it. We’ve accepted the challenge. We’ve been rising to the challenge all year, and we’re going to keep doing that."

“So, come Tuesday, there are only so many days you want to be [a player] short,” Roberts said. “We’re talking about [a potential DL move]. Around four or five days is typically what a team likes to give a player to then see when you have to make a decision.”
- BTW, Adrian Gonzalez his his 299th career home run on Sunday - a 1st inning grand slam. It was the fifth granny of his career, and the first time a Dodgers cleanup hitter has his a 1st inning grand slam since Ron Cey on June 7, 1976 (Per Andrew Simon on twitter).

- This is really neat. Apparently, Ichiro has visited Cooperstown many times, and enjoys the history of the game. Via Richard Sandomir at the NY Times; "At the Baseball Hall of Fame, Ichiro Suzuki Relishes a Shrine He Will Most Likely Enter."
Suzuki’s tours have taken him through the museum, where he saw an exhibit that celebrated his single-season record of 262 hits in 2004. He has looked at old documents in the library and examined historic equipment in the climate-controlled archive that stores the trove of artifacts that are not displayed. Suzuki has donated many of his artifacts to the Hall and has pledged to eventually bequeath his entire collection.
