Blog Kiosk: 6/21/2013 - Dodger Links - Just More Puig

I just this photo above.  It was taken by Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2013.

  • Dustin Nosler at Feelin' Kinda Blue introduces us to the 2013 Ogden Raptors (a Dodgers A farm club) who are about to begin Pioneer League play.
  • Cardboard Connections tells us about 2013 Topps Replacement cards being issued by Topps for collectors who have turned in redemption cards of cards that they have no hope of fulfilling.  They have a few examples; including the Don Sutton autographed card on the left.
  • Apparently, there was a little protest "sit-in" at a Giants game a couple of days ago, via Eric Sherbert at the Huffington Post.
According to Officer Gordon Shyy, that group staged a "sit-down" near section 119, which is right next to the delicious-tasting garlic fries stand. The cops spoke with protest organizers and they understood they were violating AT&T Park/Giants fan code of conduct.

A Family Friendly Film "Roy Campanella Night" Premiers Online Tonight

Today is the premier of a Hallmark SpiritClips original movie about the life of former Brooklyn Dodger catcher Roy Campanella.  It is called "Roy Campanella Night".

His career behind the plate and the tragedy that befell him one fateful evening is something all Dodger fans should know about.  Campy's ability to persevere is an inspiration that all of us can learn from.  I'm happy to hear that his life has been put on film.  Hopefully, I'll have an opportunity to view it this weekend, so once I do I'll let you know what I think.

This short film (it's only 43 7 minutes long) is not a blockbuster like the "42" movie that recently came out about Jackie Robinson, but I'm hopeful it's a well done portrayal.  It stars Anthony Holiday as Roy Campanella and Tia Stready as his wife, Ruthe.

The film officially premiers today, so you can head over to SpiritClips from Hallmark to check it out.  They are offering a free 1 week trial.  Here is a link to the trailer at SpiritClips.  I've also embedded the trailer at the very bottom.

From my understanding, SpiritClips from Hallmark is a family-focused video service similar to Netflix where subscribers can access Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, select Hollywood classics and SpiritClips original films.

View the trailer to "Roy Campanella Night" below.
