WooHoo! Here's Some Dodgers FanFest News!

Information has finally been release online for the upcoming Dodgers FanFest on Saturday, February 1st.  Go here.

As you probably already know, they will be running their player/coach/broadcaster autograph sessions a little differently this year.  They have split signers up into groups of two (2), over six (6) different signing sessions, and into four (4) separate lines.  So, there are a total of 48 different sessions available.

You will have to purchase a voucher for any of the sessions in order to get autographs.  Each voucher will cost $10.00 and all of these proceeds will go to the benefit of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF).
These vouchers will go on sale on Monday, January 27th online.  A limited number of vouchers will be available for sale at the FanFest at the ticket window(s) in Lot B for Sessions 3 and Session 5 only.  You will only be able to purchase two (2) vouchers at a time, online.

Season Ticket Holders will be able to purchase vouchers online using a special password from 10:00am PT to 11:59am PT on January 27, 2014.

The General Public will be able to purchase vouchers online beginning at 12:00pm PT on January 27, 2014.

I suspect Season Ticket Holders and fans on the Dodgers email list will be receiving notice about this soon.  A link to purchase online is not yet available.  UPDATE:  It appears a link will show up here.
UPDATE:  Downtown and Sunset parking gates open at 9:30 a.m. FanFest is free and open to the public. The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will have mystery bags containing autographed jerseys, baseballs and photos for a cash donation with all proceeds benefiting the LADF.  The official Dodgers press release can be found here.
Fans in attendance at FanFest on Saturday can win the opportunity to purchase tickets to Opening Day. A select number of fan information handouts will have stickers affixed to them highlighting the opportunity to purchase a limited number of Opening Day tickets. Fans with stickers will have the opportunity to purchase up to 4 tickets to Opening Day, April 4, 2014 at the Lot P ticket windows. Offer is valid on February 1 only. Ticket booths in lot P will be also be open during FanFest for individual ticket sales.
Below are the Session Lines and player schedules, per the Dodgers.  Remember, this is all subject to change.

Below are the guidelines as stated by the Dodgers.

Some New 19th Century Old Judge Baseball Card Discoveries - Video from Olbermann

I just love hearing stories like this.

Keith Olbermann on ESPN shares a recent discovery found in the Bay Area, and it's a doozy.  He features a couple of once unknown late-19th Century Old Judge Base Ball cards that were found in a window seat of a family home.

They are of a couple of West Coast minor league ballplayers, and I would expect them to come up for auction soon.  There is no estimate given regarding their potential worth (probably since Olbermann is likely to be a suitor for the cards).

I think, though, you should expect them to sell close to, if not well over, $80,000 a piece.

I know... you're probably gasping for air.

You see, Old Judge cards are highly sought after, and cards of west coast minor league ballplayers are exceedingly rare.  So rare, that when an example comes up for auction (which rarely happens) they often sell for huge bucks.  I also know for a fact that Olbermann has one of the finest collections of Old Judge's in the world, and you can count on him being a bidder.

Regardless of your opinion of his politics, his reporting on the card hobby has always been great.  He is an avid collector and his passion for it is obvious.

Anyway, check out his report below.  I found it to be really fun.

2013 Topps Supreme Baseball - Some of the Dodgers Cards in this Asia Only Issue

I only recently found out about the existence of this set.  Featured here are some Dodgers' cards from Topps 2013 Supreme Baseball card set.  Topps Supreme was an Asia only issue; meaning boxes were only sold across the Pacific.

It is a super premium card set.  Each box consist of just one pack, and each pack has only two cards.  The draw to the set is that each card is autographed, and is limited to 50 copies, or less.  DCA Cardworld has a youtube video up of a case break of these cards.  Check it out here.

Cardboard Connection has some information about this set; including a checklist.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of its release (distribution) not many cards have popped up on the market, as of yet.  So, I have yet to see many of the cards.

As you can imagine, this set is heavy on Asian born players.  There are a whole bunch of Hyun-Jin Ryu autographed cards, but I have yet to see any of them for sale.  BTW, the Ryu Supreme Autos and Dual Autographed cards shown below were preview images provided by Topps several months ago.

There are autographed patch cards of Adrian Gonzalez and Hyun-Jin Ryu, but I have yet to see them.  Ryu has 4 different Dual Autographed card; including a version paired with Clayton Kershaw.  Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez also have a Dual Autographed card.  Ryu also has 2 different Autographed Relic Patch cards, and Clayton Kershaw has one also (with Chris Sale).  And the list goes on.  I'll do my best to include more Dodgers cards below as I see them in the future.

BTW, the Yasiel Puig Supreme Stylings autographed card shown below recently sold on eBay for $1,025.00 a couple of weeks ago.  Wow!

Blog Kiosk: 1/24/2014 - Dodgers Links - The Brooklyn Nets to Wear Dodger Blue, Chone Figgins and Mark McGwire

Darren Rovell shared on twitter the alternate Brooklyn Nets basketball jersey they will wear for 5 games this season.  It sports Brooklyn Dodger Blue in homage to the team.  Paul Lukas of UniWatch on twitter notes that the number should should be in red, not blue.  Per Rovell at ESPN:
Sources told ESPN.com that the Nets will first wear the blue and grey sleeved jerseys for the game against the Boston Celtics on March 21 and will wear them for four other games, to be called "Brooklyn Blue Nights," before the season is over.
“Finish business,” McGwire said on what he’s looking forward to this season. “Everybody got a great taste to have one step to the World Series, but there’s some unfinished business that we want to take care of in ’14.”
  • Topps shared this photo of a 2014 Topps Series 1 Sandy Koufax insert card on facebook.  It is a Class Ring Gold Gem Autographed card.
  • The Dodgers community caravan begins on Monday.  Jon Weisman at Dodger Insider has some of the details.  BTW, none of the appearances are public.  They will be visiting a hospital, schools and the National Guard Armory.
  • The Real BSmile shares a photo of the 1898 Brooklyn Bridgegrooms.
  • Via David Brown at Big League Stew, "Greg Maddux goes into Hall of Fame without a logo — Braves or Cubs — on his plaque".
  • Rich Mueller at Sports Collectors Daily tells us about Babe Ruth's 1923 World Series watch coming to auction.
