2017 Honus Bonus Fantasy Baseball - All the Dodgers Cards

Here is a new Baseball card brand from Rittenhouse Archives - a manufacturer known for their nonsports cards.  It is called 2017 Honus Bonus Fantasy Baseball and it melds collecting with fantasy Baseball.  Each card has a scratch-off code on the reverse can be used to play an online fantasy Baseball game at www.honusbonus.com. Below are all of the Dodgers' base cards that are available in packs.  I've also included a list of the known (1 of 1) Career Milestone cards.  There are also an unknown number of Dodger sketch cards available, as well (no checklist).

Today's the day.  Happy Opening Day!

The game starts at 1:10 PM, and if you are attending you should already be on the road (as of this posting). Clayton Kershaw will make his seventh Opening Day start -- tying a Dodger franchise record held by Hall of Famer Don Sutton. You can watch him stroll into the stadium this morning here, via a tweet from the Dodgers. • This Day in Dodgers History:  In 1974 the Dodgers get Pedro Guerrero from the Indians in exchange for pitcher Bruce Ellingsen. In 2008 the Dodgers announce, twenty minutes before their game, that reliever Hong-Chih Kuo would be used as the starter in place of Chad Billingsley, who in turn will be used out the bullpen. The unusual move was made due to an threat of rain at the start of the game. In 2009 the Dodgers purchased Justin Sellers from the Cubs.

OPENING DAY! - Padres Series Starts Monday - Pregame Info and Other Stuff!

Woo Hoo!  It is Opening Day! The first homestand of the 2017 regular season starts on Monday against the San Diego Padres.   Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand. I have detailed information for Opening Day, but information for the remaining games in this homestand remain scarce.  I will update this post when more detail becomes available.

This season the Dodgers have added several new concession and food stands within the stadium.

• Bud & Burgers Stand -- located down the third base line it will feature the Dodger Burger (1/3 lbs of Angus beef topped with a Dodger Dog, caramelized onions, Budweiser BBQ sauce and beer battered jalapeno's)  
• King’s Hawaiian Grill Stand -- In the Left Field Plaza it will have a pulled pork Dodger Dog, pulled pork sliders, lava wings, smoked pork nachos and more. 
• Think Blue BBQ Stand -- added to the Reserve Level in right field, adjacent to the kid’s area.
• BaseBowls -- featuring Poke bowls, Teriyaki Chicken bowl, Kalua Pork bowl and the Vietnamese Rice Noodle bowl. – Field Level – 3rd base side – Aisle 45
• Trolley Dodger Treats -- funnel cakes topped with powdered sugar, chocolate drizzle and whipped cream; glazed churro; a cinnamon sugar churro served with blue ice cream, deep fried Oreos and Twinkies. – Field Level – 1st base side – Aisle 46
• Shock Top Bratwurst -- spicy pork bratwurst link infused with Shock Top beer served on a warm bun with caramelized onions and spicy brown mustard. – Field / Loge and Reserve Levels in the Extreme Loaded Dog Stands – Field Aisle 48 / Loge Aisle 135 / Reserve Aisle 2

Blog Kiosk: 3/31/2017 - Dodgers Links - Some Spring Odds and Ends

Early in spring Clayton Kershaw and family hosted ballplayers from several other teams in Arizona to Spring Training PingPong4Purpose charity event, and was kind enough to share some pics at the Kershaw's Challenge website (link here).

A little over 150 people attended the event, making donations at the door to KC. 50% of the proceeds were to be donated to Kershaw’s Challenge (handicap building project) and the other 50% would be donated to the winner’s choice charity. We were blown away with what the event raised. Just over $14,000 was donated the night-of! Incredible. Clayton and his partner Scott ended up pulling out the big win in the end…as well as Dodger bragging rights until next year’s event.

• This Day in Dodgers History:  In 1948 the Dodgers played their very first exhibition game at Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida. They played against their top farm team, the Montreal Royals, and defeated them 5-4.  Jackie Robinson hit a first inning home run.  Per HistoricDodgertown.com:

Florida Governor Millard Caldwell threw the ceremonial first pitch at so-called “Ebbets Field No. 2.” A sign reading “You Are Now Entering Dodgertown” welcomed a strong showing of some 6,000 fans, paying $1.25 in the grandstands and bolstered the idea of more games being played on base in the future. Baseball Commissioner Happy Chandler, who had suspended Manager Durocher one year earlier, shook hands with “The Lip” and wished him good luck. Vero Mayor Merrill P. Barber looked on and a contingent of the Brooklyn National Guard, who had traveled to Florida to watch the Dodgers, was introduced and went home with a “load of oranges presented to them by the Vero Beach Jaycees.”
