Happy belated St. Patrick's Day!

  • This Day in Dodgers History: In 1958 famed clown Emmett Kelly, signed by the Dodgers to play the teams mascot in Brooklyn, announced that his contract had not been renewed to join the team in LA. The veteran circus performer believes the size of the Coliseum, the club's new home on the West Coast, is just "too big for one clown".

  • Via Cary Osborne at Dodger Insider; "Seager on target for Opening Day, Kershaw uses his full mix."
“In talking to the training staff and talking to Corey himself, where he’s at, the progression, we’ve been conservative understandably. I don’t see any reason why he wont be ready for Opening Day,” Roberts said.
“It’s unlikely, that’s fair,” Roberts said of what would have been Kershaw’s franchise-record-setting ninth consecutive Opening Day start. “But to be definitive, I don’t want to close the door. But when you look at the calendar, it’s more unlikely.”
The purest hitter in the Dodgers’ farm system, Verdugo collected two hits, scoring twice while driving in a run. He is now hitting .294/.306/.412.
  • There'll be a new sponsor at the stadium. Per a Dodger press release, Hanwha Q CELLS, of one of the largest solar cell and module manufacturers in the world, is now the Official Solar Partner of the Dodgers. There will be signage near the left field pole and they are sponsoring the Kershaw bobble being given out in June.
  • Per Mark Polishuk at MLB Trade Rumors; "Dodgers Announce Front Office Promotions."
The Dodgers announced a series of promotions within the team’s front office, including the elevation of Brandon Gomes to the new title of Vice President and Assistant General Manager.  Gomes’ old role, the Dodgers’ director of player development, will now be filled by assistant farm director Will Rhymes.  The director of baseball operations position will be filled by Alex Slater, while Duncan Webb becomes director of baseball resources.
Cary Osborne at Dodger Insider tells us more about the promotions.
