Blog Kiosk: 2/13/2020 - Dodgers Links & news - Pitchers & Catcher Report Day!

Welcome!

Per Sarah Wexler at MLB.com:
"To be able to jump on to a team like the Dodgers, a team that has had the amount of success they've had the last couple years, and then add a player like Mookie Betts, and then to be able to add myself to that mix as well?” Price said. “That's something special to be a part of, and we're both very excited for that.”

  • This Day in Dodgers HistoryIn 1968 the Dodgers completed a rare trade with the Giants. In fact, it would be 17 years before another trade is consummated between the two clubs. They shipped Ron Hunt and Nate Oliver to San Francisco for catcher Tom Haller and a minor leaguer. Haller would play four seasons in LA; slashing .276/.344/.393/.737. He would also garner MVP consideration his two first seasons in Blue -- coming in 22nd in '68 and 29th in '69.

  • Apparently, the Astros are apologizing... Too little, too late. Per Jeff Todd at MLB Trade Rumors -- "Astros Hold Press Conference On Sign-Stealing Scandal."
Bregman stated that he is “really sorry” and added that he “hope[s] to regain the trust of baseball fans.” Altuve expresed “remorse” and said that “the whole organization feels bad about what happened in 2017.” That was all for now.

Via Chris Cwik at Yahoo Sports -- "MLB players react to Astros' apology for stealing signs: 'They didn't own up to anything'"
  • Via Alden Gonzalez at ESPN -- "Dodgers' Andrew Friedman hopes Mookie Betts 'falls in love' with team, city."
Friedman also hopes to employ Betts for more than one season.
"We obviously know that his team control is up after 2020," Friedman said of Betts, who will make $27 million in his final season before free agency. "We're hoping that he falls in love with the team, the city, the fans and wants to be here for a long time."
  • Thank you, Alex!

So many emotions, so many things to say and still not sure how to but here we go. LA has been my home and the only organization I’ve ever known, mi familia. I want to thank everyone in the front office for giving me the opportunity to put on the dodger uniform and live out my dream. I want to thank Doc for letting me, be me. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. To my teammates, coaches, clubhouse staff and trainers, Im going to miss y’all! Thank you guys for helping me grow as a player and a person. Can’t wait to see y’all on the field๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚ To the fans, to the city. You guys made being a dodger so special in so many ways. On the field, off the field or just walking down the street you guys made me feel loved and like family. I will always cherish the memories of coming up to bat to Volver Volver and hearing the stadium erupt. Then I look around and I see everyone hugging and dancing ๐Ÿ’™ Thank you all for making it so easy for me to be myself and to play and express the pure love and joy I have for this game everyday. Please know from the bottom of my heart, you will always be apart of mine. ๐Ÿ’™❤️ #Bendicion #VivaLaRaza๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ
