Red Sox Series Starts on Friday - Stadium Giveaways, Pregame Info and Other Stuff!


The next homestand starts on Friday against the Boston Red Sox.   Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand

The Boston Baked Bean Dog will be available for this homestand only against the Red Sox at the Extreme Loaded Dog concession areas located on the field, loge and reserve levels. It features an all-beef hot dog topped with baked beans, crispy bacon pieces and yellow mustard.

The ninth 2016 issue of the new Dodger Insider magazine, featuring Howie Kendrick on the cover, will be available at Dodger Stadium.  (see it on the left).  The Dodgers merged their previously separate Playbill and Dodger Insider magazines into one publication (at least 80 pages per issue) with a new edition available each homestand.  They are distributed at auto gates (one per vehicle) and via Fan Services for those who use alternate transportation.

Friday, August 5th at 7:10 PM

Friday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM.  It is Friday Night Fireworks, so fans will be able to go down onto the field after the game to watch the spectacle. With Boston in town there will be a special pregame ceremony honoring David Ortiz.

DJ Adam will provide musical entertainment in the right-field plaza and a stilt walker will be in the left-field plaza from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Multi-talented entertainer and American Idol season 14 winner Nick Fradiani whose debut album “Hurricane” was released today will perform the national anthem.  There will be an Alzheimer’s awareness PSA and ceremonial first pitch in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Marine Corps veteran Corporal Cesar Castaneda of Los Angeles. Castaneda attended Infantry Training School at Camp Pendleton and was deployed to Iraq to meet with his assigned 3rd Battalion 5th Marines also known as “Darkhorse.” From 2002-2006, Castaneda participated in three combat tours in Iraq, including Operation Phantom Fury also known as the second Battle of Fallujah. His final tour included going back to Fallujah in 2005-2006. He currently lives in San Diego with his wife and three children and works at the Veterans Affairs Department, La Jolla.
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) conducts silent auctions throughout the season featuring signed pieces of memorabilia from Dodger players, coaches and alumni. Auctions take place behind the Vin Scully press box on the club level. The items for auction tomorrow include a Clayton Kershaw autographed jersey, a Justin Turner autographed photo and a Nomar Garciaparra autographed baseball. More than 25 items will be up for bid.

Saturday's game starts at 1:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 10:35 AM, and stadium gates open at 11:05 AM.

DJ Adam will provide musical entertainment in the right-field plaza, face painting will take place in the left-field plaza and DJ Anthony Valdez will provide musical entertainment in the right-field reserve from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Army veteran Specialist Nestor Martinez of Los Angeles. Martinez served in the Army as a 19 Delta Cavalry Scout from 2003-2006. He was stationed at Vilseck, Germany with the 2nd Battalion-63rd Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He completed a 12-month tour in Iraq from 2004-05. His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Combat Action Badge.

Sunday's game starts at 4:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 1:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 2:10 PM.  The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive Dodgers socks and a Toomgis fan.  See the socks on the left.

AMPM character Toomgis, their “loveable snack giant,” will throw a first pitch.  Josh Duhamel, star of the upcoming film “Spaceman” about former Red Sox pitcher Bill “Spaceman” Lee, will also throw a ceremonial first pitch. Platinum RCA Artist Tinashe, who just released her new single “Superlove,” will perform the national anthem.

It is Viva Los Dodgers in the Dodgers parking lot prior to the game at the Historic 76 Station starting at 1:40 PM.  Entertainment will be provided by Diego y Gabriel and Nancy Sanchez. Dodger alumni Lee Lacy and Kenny Landreaux will sign autographs for fans.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Jesse Garcia of Los Angeles. Garcia enlisted in the Navy in 1998. His deployments included sea duty assignments onboard the USS Kitty Hawk CV63 to Yokosuka, Japan and serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He reported to Navy Recruiting District Los Angeles in 2015, where he recruits officer and enlisted applicants for active and reserve naval service in seven southern California counties, Hawaii, Pacific Island territories and Japan.
