Blog Kiosk: 11/7/2018 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

I love the look of satisfaction on the face of Dodgers manager Walter Alston in the International News press photo above, dated October 6, 1955 (eBay auction link). It was taken following the Dodgers first world championship -- after all the parties and celebration throughout Brooklyn. Per the description attached to the reverse:
Hail and Farewell -- Brooklyn Manager Walkter Alston, carrying his baggage and a few bats, takes a last look over Ebbets Field before leaing for a long vacation. Brooklynites nursed the father of all hangovers as a result of the cataclysmic celebration that followed the Dodgers winning the first World Series in the history of the borough.
I know, one day, I'll know this feeling too. Below are more links to check out:

  • With Farhan Zaidi now gone will the Dodgers, once again, break with tradition? I think it's high-time that former Dodger VP and Assistant GM Kim Ng be given an opportunity to take over the Dodger reigns as GM. Here's a recent article about her. Per Shannon Ryan at the Chicago Tribune; "Kim Ng, a former White Sox intern, is now the highest ranking woman in MLB: 'Nothing should hold women back'"
  • WooHoo! I approve of this. Dave Roberts has been signed to a new contract. Per Ken Gurnick at; "Roberts, Dodgers agree on extension."
  • Clint Evans at Dodgers BluePen provides a nice report on the golf tournament hosted by Walker Buehler on Monday: "Walker Buehler Hosts Golf Tournament To Benefit Childhood Cancer."
  • Congrats! Per Patrick Schmidt at FanSided; "Randi Radcliffe wins the 2018 FanSided Fan of the Year." You can follow her on twitter here: @dodgers_randi. Watch her youtube videos here.
Her journey toward becoming the Fan of the Year began in the spring when she attended 17 Dodgers Spring Training games where she got to the park early to meet with players, coaches and fellow fans. It ended in the World Series where she finished her journey of attending every Dodgers home game this season, including Game 163.
“I love the team and I think what the team has allowed me to do has brought me out of my box, Radcliffe told FanSided.” “I used to be kind of afraid to meet people. I never used to want to do things and it all kinda brought it all together.”
He is currently tied for the league lead in strikeouts (23) with Astros No. 2 prospect Forrest Whitley, and he is fourth in innings pitched with 19 2/3.
"I mean it's awesome, it's just an awesome experience," Holmes said of his time in the Fall League. "I was kind of stagnant for a while in the other organization [Miami] and the Dodgers gave me kind of a fresh breath of air. Just a new start."
  • Way to go, Josh Lindblom. Per Yoo Jee-ho at Yonhap News; "American right-hander wins top pitching award in S. Korean baseball."
  • Apparently, we should get to know this guy. The Dodgers are said to be in pursuit. Per David Adler at; "Star Japanese lefty eyes signing with MLB club: Kikuchi, 27, in line to be posted by Seibu Lions."
  • No!!!!! Per the Giants twitter:
