Blog Kiosk: 7/30/2020 - Dodgers Links & News - Sweep!

That sweep felt good!

Thank you, Edwin Rios! Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“It’s great,” RĂos said. “All the guys, they were pumped. Just ready at all times. Be ready for every opportunity I get and take advantage of them.”

Kelly’s pouty face and trash-talking taunting of Correa on Tuesday night not only endeared him to Dodgers fans for life, but in the clubhouse as well.
“The face he did is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on a baseball field and obviously it went viral on social media and now we’re all excited because we’ll have new shirts to wear for BP and stuff like that,” said pitcher Ross Stripling.
Oh... And watch Jomboy Media talk about the incident here:

  • A must listen. Andrew Friedman chats with Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser on Off Air:

—Dodgers No. 2 prospect Dustin May on Wednesday struggled with his command and pitched just 3.1 innings in the team’s win over the Astros. The righthander threw 76 pitches, allowed a run on three hits, walked two batters and struck out three. He was removed after issuing a walk and a single to put runners on first and second with one out in the fourth inning. May has failed to get past the fifth inning in consecutive starts to begin the season after pitching just 4.1 innings on July 23. May in 2019 pitched at least 5.1 innings in each of his four starts at the big league level.
—Dodgers No. 14 prospect Edwin Rios hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the 13th inning to deliver a sweep over the Astros. The corner infielder had just one at-bat coming into the game despite hitting .277 with four home runs in 2019 and impressing in summer camp, but more playing time could soon be on the way.
“I think we all kind of understand our situation. We understand it’s not just going to be rolling into town and going to find something to eat. It’s just not going to be that way, and we know that,” Clayton Kershaw said.
“I think for the most part, maybe other than going to grab coffee or something, we’re going to pretty much be confined to the hotel. That’s OK. I think as long as you’re wearing a mask, that’s safe. If you think about, man if I go somewhere and get it and give it to my teammates, and our season is ruined because of something stupid I did, that’s a bad feeling.
