Blog Kiosk/ Dodgers Links & Kings Videos: 6/4/2012

Who am I kidding.  Right now, I can't think about anything but hockey.  With that in mind, here's a pic found via twitter of Magic all dressed in Kings Black and Silver.  Check out a handful of Dodger related links, but if you want to get pumped up about this evenings game enjoy the Kings videos below.

  • The nicest thing about the Kings and the NHL is how creative fans are when it comes to these custom made videos and how willing the league is to allow fans to use actual game footage.  It's a win/ win.  Fans get to use their skills to root for their team while the league gets some free advertising.  If only MLB looked the other way when Baseball fans try to do the same thing.  Anyway, I found the following videos fun to watch.

I'm not sure if this is real or not, but apparantly there's a big cup next to the Hollywood sign.

A Kings Card

In honor of todays Game 3 in the Stanley Cup Finals between the Kings and Devils, please check out this over-sized hockey card released by Upper Duck during the 1991-1992 season.  It is about the size of a postcard and features the scurrying action of netminder Kelly Hrudy.  He's low to the ground ready to pounce on any puck headed his way, not unlike our current wonder-kid in goal Jonathan Quick.

Better yet, the reverse of the card is just as striking.  It is a painted collage of several great Kings players and, inexplicably includes the former owner who was eventually jailed for fraud.  Bruce McNall was a giant personality in LA at this time, and deserves credit for revitalizing the franchise after several decades of stagnant ownership by Jack Cooke.  Unfortunately, his remake of the team didn't result in a Stanley Cup victory, but we can rectify that now.

The Kings players showcased below include goalie Rogie Vachon, Luc Robitaille, Wayne Gretzky, and Marcel Dionne. BTW, Marcel remains my favorite all-time favorite hockey player.

Go Kings Go!!!!
