A Roundup of Vin Scully's #AskVin "Vin Cast" from this Morning

After taking home 5 major awards during the inaugural MLB Social Media Awards, the Dodgers decide to up the ante by hosting a #AskVin twitter session this morning.  As you may know, the Dodgers won the Best Team Promotion with their Vin Scully "Vin Cast" on twitter this past June, so why not end the year right with a encore.  Besides, Scully is the Grand Marshall of this years Tournament of Roses Parade, and he figured fans would want to ask him all about it.  So check out some of the more notable tweets below.  I especially enjoyed reading his exchange with Yahoo Sports reporter Tim Brown about Christmas in Scully's home as a youth.  BTW, he spent about an hour with fans this morning.

First, the Dodgers announce Scully's entrance.

And he starts it with his normal flare.

He's as humble as ever.

His greatest Dodgers moment?

Most memorable year?

So, how would Vin rank Kershaw.

What was your favorite Christmas gift, Vin?

Vin adds more

Then more.

Then, Christmas morn.

What is Vin Scully's favorite Baseball Movie?

Here's something I've always wanted to know.

Very first game?

A favorite celebrity memory?

Best player ever?

And Vin Scully's "Thank You" and "Goodbye".

2013 Topps Five Star Baseball - the Dodgers Relic Cards

I finally finish up my posts on Dodgers' cards within 2013 Topps Five Star Baseball with a look at the Dodger Relics.  See them below.  Go here to check out my previous post on this set.

There are three Dodgers with Jumbo Jersey Relics.  As you can see, the Yasiel Puis uses a green Dodger jersey from St. Patrick's Day 2013.  See my post about this, here.

Jumbo Jersey Relics

#FSJJR-AGZ Gonzalez                #FSJJR-MK Matt Kemp

#FSJJR-YP Yasiel Puig

Three Dodger players have "1 of 1" Letters Relic cards.  Unfortunately, only the Yasiel Puig has surfaced for fans to see.  It is below.  The Adrian Gonzalez (#FSL-AG) and Clayton Kershaw (#FSL-CK) cards have yet to be unearthed.

#FSL-YP Yasiel Puig

Legends Relics

#FSLR-JR Jackie Robinson

A Dual Legends Relic card featuring Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron (#FSDLR-RA) has yet to see the light of day.  There are also two Active Player Dual Patch cards, but neither have yet to show up.  They are Kemp and Puig (#FSDP-PK) and Kershaw and Sutton (#FSDP-SK).

#FSQP-7 Ryu, Wheeler, Miller & Cole

#FSOP-3 Machado, Harper, Trout, Miller, Strasburg, Darvish, Harvey & Puig

#FSOP-4 Ramirez, Kemp, Gonzalez, Beckett, Puig, Greinke, Ryu & Kershaw
*This card has yet to surface.

#FSOP-6 Wainwright, Miller, Harvey, Ryu, Strasburg, Kershaw, Lee & Gonzalez

These next cards are probably the cream of the crop.  They are all "1 of 1" relics featuring either a game-used bat plate or knob.  Only a photo of the Jackie Robinson knob bat card is available to see.  According to the checklist there is a Jackie Robinson Bat Plate (#FSBP-JR) and a Duke Snider Bat Knob (#FSBK-DS) card still out there.  Also, there a a book card called "10 Greatest Lineups of All Time Book Cards" that features the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers.  I am not exactly sure if this card includes relic or autograph pieces.

#FSBK-JR Jackie Robinson "1 of 1"

UPDATE:  Here's a scan of the Jackie Robinson Bat Plate Card (#FSBP-JR).  Per a comment on this post, it is listed for sale on the following website.

Blog Kiosk: 12/16/2013 - Dodgers Links - Dodgers Big Winners at First Ever Social Media Awards

Check out Lee Lacy at the Echo Park Parade, pic via Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2013.
Within minutes of our meeting, Don made me feel like we were old pals from yesteryear. He introduced me to all of his old teammates as his friend. I watched as he signed away at all of the items the promoters put in front of him, and then as he happily met with the many fans that traveled from far and near to spend some precious moments with the living members of New York's bygone team.
MLB Network's first-ever Social Media Awards were handed out Sunday night, with the Dodgers taking five of the honors back to Los Angeles. Rookie sensation Yasiel Puig was responsible for two of them, winning the Socially Savvy Rookie and #SAW (Stop-And-Watch) awards.
  • This was probably the most memorable of all Dodgers Social Media Events this past season.  The Dodgers won the Best Team Promotion for the Vin Scully "Vin Cast" on twitter.  Go to my post from June that captures the glorious event.
  • BTW, the Dodgers won the Snapshot of the Year Award during the Social Media Awards.  Below is the winning pic.
