Meet Karros and Cey on Dodger Day at an ampm Tomorrow

I don't often make note of a meet & greet like this, but when I do it's 'cause it's tomorrow.

Please note that tomorrow has been dubbed "Dodger Day" and a promotional celebration is slated to take place at a local AMPM on Glendale Boulevard tomorrow, August 10, 2016, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.  Former Dodger players Eric Karros and Ron Cey will be there to entertain the fans.  Per a press release I received:
Dodger partner ampm will play host to a Dodger Day tomorrow with Dodger legends Ron Cey and Eric Karros at a Los Angeles-area ampm store.  Fans can win autographed baseballs and Cey and Karros will be on hand for a meet and greet with customers. Customers will be treated to a round of Dodger Dogs courtesy of the Dodgers. Cey and Karros will show customers how they prefer to enjoy their Dodger Dog with toppings from the condiment bar. A Q&A session with Cey and Karros will then take place followed by photos and trivia with fans.
I am unsure if there will be an autograph session with fans.  Clearly, though, you'll be able to meet and take pics with them.

Seager Sets Dodgers Home Run Record - 2016 Topps Now Card - #334

Corey Seager is turning out to be everything Dodger fans hoped he would be... And then some.  Per Ken Gurnick and Todd Zolecki at MLB.com:
"When you don't think he can do any more, he continually exceeds that," manager Dave Roberts said of Seager. "Every time he comes up to bat, something special can happen. His defense has been consistent all year long. He's done so many things for us, obviously he's a special player."
A couple of days after setting the Los Angeles Dodgers record for doubles by a rookie, Seager walloped two homers (to give him 21 overall) against the Phillies to set the single-season record for home runs by a shortstop.  The record had previously been held by Hanley Ramirez at 20 during the 2013 season.  In commemoration of his feat Topps has issued a 2016 Topps Now card for fans and collector to add to their collections.  Go here to check it out and order.

UPDATE:  The print run for this card is 886 copies.

Topps & Beckett Promo's at 2016 National Convention - The Dodgers Cards

Now that the 2016 National Sports Collectors Convention is over it is time to take a closer look at the Dodgers promo and redemption cards that were exclusively available there.  Below is a listing of the Topps and Beckett promo cards that I am aware of.  I hope that in the next few days I'll have a complete checklist of all the Panini (promo, wrapper redemption and VIP Gold packs) cards that were available.  If I missed anything else please let me know.

Topps VIP Promo Set

Topps gave out a limited edition 5-card set to all attendees who were a part of the conventions VIP program.  As you can see they used their vintage 1951 Topps Red Backs design in honor of its 65th anniversary, and included in the set is Dodger Hall of Famer Duke Snider.  Check it out below.  The other players in the set include Phil Rizzuto, Bobby Doerr, Bob Feller and Warren Spahn.

Blog Kiosk: 8/9/2016 - Dodgers Links - Topps Unveils 2017 Baseball Card with Clayton Kershaw

Topps provided a nice surprise for collectors this morning.  Featured in the pic above is Topps' design for their 2017 Baseball card set.  Best yet, they use a pic of Clayton Kershaw to show us the design.  It was tweeted out this morning by Topps.

  • This Day in Dodger History: In 1975 Davey Lopes stole his 32nd consecutive base without being caught.  This broke a record set in 1922 by Hall of Fame Pirate outfielder Max Carey.  In 1976 the Dodgers are no-hit by Pirates hurler John Candelaria in Pittsburgh.
