2016 Leaf Trinity Baseball - All the Dodger Cards

Why do you do this Leaf?

We are already in the mist of spring training for the upcoming 2017 season, and Leaf (for whatever reason) sees fit to release a brand new Baseball card set that they call 2016 Leaf Trinity.

2016?

Come on, now!

I get that many of the players in the set were drafted by their teams in 2016, but that doesn't mean it's appropriate to call this a 2016 Baseball card set when it actually hits stores the following year.

Anyway, here are the Dodger cards found in packs of Leaf's newest set called 2016 Leaf Trinity.  Like in years past, this set focuses on some of the top prospects in the game.  It includes three Dodger fast-risers: Alex Verdugo, Gavin Lux and Jordan Sheffield.  Go here to see a complete checklist.

BTW, the signature cards (as seen at the very bottom) include personally written scripts by the players, and it seems likely that each player will have at least three different phrases available.  They appear to be:
  • Go Dodgers!
  • Can't Wait to Play at Chavez Ravine!
  • #xx Draft Pick in 2016 MLB Draft!
I don't currently have pics for all of them, so I will update this post periodically.

Clear Autographs

#BA-AV1 Alex Verdugo                         #BA-GL1 Gavin Lux

Blog Kiosk: 3/6/2017 - Dodgers Links - Some Spring Odds and Ends

Dave Roberts has taken his position as manager of the Dodgers to new heights.  Not only has be got the ear and respect of the clubhouse, but he also takes seriously the role he plays as a representative of the diversity sought by Jackie Robinson.  Per Fabian Ardaya at MLB.com:
In an event on Friday with children from elementary schools throughout Glendale, Ariz., at the Dodgers' Spring Training complex at Camelback Ranch, Roberts sought to echo the legacy of Robinson -- perhaps the most notable figure in the history of the franchise.

"He paved the way for all of us," Roberts said. "[His teammates] used to talk about what Jackie went through. A lot of times, what Jackie did was, beyond being a great baseball player, he was a guy who was just so tough."

  • This Day in Dodger History:  In 1938 the Dodgers received first baseman Dolph Camilli from the Phillies for an outfield prospect named Eddie Morgan.  In 1948 the Dodgers traded second baseman Eddie Stanky to the Boston Braves.  Stanky is famous for yelling at Phillies coach Ben Chapman during a game the prior season due to his racist insults directed at Jackie Robinson.
