Weekend Autograph Opportunity: Steve Garvey

Here are this weekends autograph opportunities and events throughout the Southland. As always, be sure to check the Blue Heaven Calendar for other events (a link can always be found on the tab at the top of this page, just left of center), and always confirm with the establishment. Everything is subject to change.  Please email me with any tips about upcoming events in Southern California.  As the rest of the week progresses I'll update this post with other events (if there are any), as I become aware of them.  Also, I don't always list every event below, so be sure to check my Calendar.  I always try to favor free signing events over paying events.  Click on any pic to embiggen.

Steve Garvey will be signing autographs at the Bobblemania Store in Monterey Park this coming Saturday, June 8th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Go here or here for more information.

2019 Topps Now - #329 - Ryu's Scoreless Seven Innings

For his second start in a row Topps has issued a 2019 Topps Now card featuring Hyun-jin Ryu to celebrate his mastery on the mound. This is his fourth Topps Now card of the season -- a testament to how great he's been so far. Go here to check it out and order. Below is what's written on the reverse.
Hyun-Jin Ryu has quickly resumed firing scoreless innings after his 32-inning streak ended on May 25. The left-hander put together another seven scoreless innings in a 10-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The performance marks his 12th consecutive start to open the season allowing two earned runs or fewer.

Blog Kiosk: 6/5/2019 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

Ryu was fantastic, once again. He spun seven innings of shutout ball against the Diamondbacks, recorded only two strikeouts and walked none to earn his ninth victory of the season, 9-0. Per Jesse Sanchez at
“Baseball is never easy, but I’m executing my game plan and things are working out for me,” Ryu said. “There’s always a challenge, especially when commanding my pitches. I’m trying to make sure that I throw each and every pitch in a very competitive fashion.”
“He’s just in complete control,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “It’s front and back, it’s all quadrants, it’s changing speeds and mixing up the sequence.”
