Mets Series Starts on Monday - Pregame Info and Other Stuff!


The next homestand starts on Monday against the New York Mets.  Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand. 

The New York Dog will be available for this homestand only against the Mets at the Extreme Loaded Dog concession areas located on the field, loge and reserve levels. It features a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog topped with Sabrett’s onions in sauce, sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard.

The third 2016 issue of the new Dodger Insider magazine, featuring Kenta Maeda on the cover, will be available at Dodger Stadium.  (see it on the left.  The Dodgers merged their previously separate Playbill and Dodger Insider magazines into one publication (at least 80 pages per issue) with a new edition available each homestand.  They are distributed at auto gates (one per vehicle) and via Fan Services for those who use alternate transportation.

Monday, May 9th at 7:10 PM
LHP Steven Matz vs. LHP Scott Kazmir

Monday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive the first pin in the Dodgers Retired Number Series featuring #1 Pee Wee Reese.  See it on the left.

Actress Kelly Packard, known for her role on the popular television series “Baywatch” and “California Dreams” and also the co-host of “Ripley’s Believe It or Not,” will perform the national anthem. Country music star and four-time Grammy Award Winner Keith Urban, will serve as the honorary PA announcer and will present the starting lineup. Urban’s new album, “Ripcord,” will be on sale in the left field plaza Team Store.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is retired U.S. Army Sergeant Caston Marrujo of Los Angeles. Marrujo graduated from airborne school and deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 and to Iraq in 2005. He has received several awards, including a Purple Heart medal from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006.

Tuesday, May 10th at 7:10 PM
RHP Jacob deGrom vs. LHP Alex Wood

Tuesday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Vin Scully Avenue T-Shirt.  See it on the right.

Actress and co-founder of the We Win Foundation Tichina Arnold will perform the national anthem. Arnold will be singing in recognition of Lupus Awareness Month on behalf of Alliance for Lupus Research.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is Sergeant Ryan Tiura of Sandusky, Ohio. Tiura attended airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia, and his first duty station was at Fort Richardson, Alaska, where he was a machine gunner, javelin gunner, grenadier and team leader. After a 10-month deployment in Afghanistan, he reenlisted and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he earned the distinction of Senior Rated Jumpmaster. He is currently a recruiter assigned to Long Beach Company in Lakewood, California.

Wednesday, May 11th at 7:10 PM

Wednesday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive the first pin in a Dave Roberts bobblehead.  See it on the right.

Members of the Dave Roberts family will be on hand for the pregame ceremonies, along with Dodger sponsor Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVB). Okinawa Prefecture governor Takeshi Onaga will be on hand for an honorary first pitch which Roberts will catch.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Army Colonel Lee Reynolds of Burbank. Reynolds has served in the Army for 34 years and is still in the Reserves. He has deployed three times since 9/11— twice to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and spent a year in Iraq, from 2009-2010. He also ran the Army ROTC program at the University of Southern California. He is a filmmaker and is the senior manager for the Studio Tour at Universal Studios.
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) conducts silent auctions throughout the season featuring signed pieces of memorabilia from Dodger players, coaches and alumni. Auctions take place behind the Vin Scully press box on the club level. The items up for auction Wednesday include a Corey Seager autographed jersey, Yasiel Puig autographed baseball and Kenta Maeda autographed photo.

Thursday, May 12th at 7:10 PM
RHP Bartolo Colon vs LHP Clayton Kershaw

Thursday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM.

Aaron Bruno, the lead singer of L.A.-based band AWOLNATION, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Major Paul Hayes of Chino. Hayes served in the Marine Corps for 33 years. He has held billets throughout the world, including Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Philippines, Thailand and Mongolia. His achievements and medals include the Combat Action Ribbon, the Legion of Merit Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.  
  • LADF will play host to 100 elementary school students and their families in celebration of its fourth year in partnership with Vision to Learn, a non-profit organization that provides free eye exams and free glasses to school kids in Los Angeles.
