Rockies Series Starts on Friday - Stadium Giveaways, Pregame Info and Other Stuff!



The next homestand starts on Friday against the Colorado Rockies.   Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand; including autograph information for Sunday's Viva Los Dodgers.

The Colorado Shishito Chile Dog will be available for this homestand only against the Nationals at the Extreme Loaded Dog concession areas located on the field, loge and reserve levels. It features a Brooklyn Dodger Dog topped with red chile Colorado sauce, shredded jack cheese, blistered Shishito peppers, salt and fresh lime.

The seventh 2016 issue of the new Dodger Insider magazine, featuring a salute to the Old-Timers Game on the cover, will be available at Dodger Stadium.  (see it on the left).  The Dodgers merged their previously separate Playbill and Dodger Insider magazines into one publication (at least 80 pages per issue) with a new edition available each homestand.  They are distributed at auto gates (one per vehicle) and via Fan Services for those who use alternate transportation.

Friday, July 1st at 7:10 PM

Friday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM.  It is Friday Night Fireworks, so fans will be able to go down onto the field after the game to watch the spectacle. The night's theme will be music from 1981 in celebration of Saturday’s Old-Timers game and 1981 Tri-MVP bobblehead, and will include musical selections by the Rolling Stones, Prince and the Go-Gos.  Go here for more information on Friday Night Fireworks.

DJ Adam will provide musical entertainment in the right-field plaza and an airbrush tattoo artist will be in the left-field plaza from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As part of Mormon Night, Tiffany Houghton will perform the national anthem and Elder Neil L. Andersen, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, will throw a first pitch.  Aubrey Plaza, star of “Parks and Recreation” and the new film “Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates” opening nationwide Friday, July 8, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Army First Sergeant Marcos Morales. Morales was born and raised in Los Angeles. He joined the Army in 1999 and now serves at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. His assignments have included Army Special Operations in 7th Special Forces Group Fort Bragg, NC, 1st Special Forces Group Fort Lewis, WA, and Special Operations Command Fort Bragg, NC. His decorations include the Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge and the Combat Action Badge. Morales has served deployments to Afghanistan, Bogota, Colombia, Zamboanga, Philippines, Brisbane, Australia, and Lop-Buri, Thailand. 
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) conducts silent auctions throughout the season featuring signed pieces of memorabilia from Dodger players, coaches and alumni. Auctions take place behind the Vin Scully press box on the club level. The items for auction tomorrow include a Clayton Kershaw autographed photo, a Yasiel Puig autographed baseball and a Joc Pederson autographed jersey. More than 25 items will be up for bid.

Saturday, July 2nd at 7:10 PM

Saturday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:10 PM, and stadium gates open at 4:10 PM. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Ron Cey, Steve Yeager & Pedro Guerrero bobblehead.  See it on the right.

This afternoon is also the Dodgers Old-Timers Game.  Batting practice begins at 4:00 PM, and game introductions starts at 5:00 PM.  Cey, Guerrero and Yeager will be joined by Dodger greats Sandy Koufax, Tommy Lasorda, Don Newcombe, Tommy Davis, Maury Wills, Fernando Valenzuela, Orel Hershiser, Steve Garvey, Steve Sax, Bill Russell, Nomar Garciaparra Manny Mota, Al Ferrara, Shawn Green, Rick Honeycutt, Dave Roberts, Jerry Hairston Jr., Kevin Gross, Derrel Thomas, Mark Ellis, Nick Punto, Skip Schumaker, Jerry Royster, Kenny Lofton, Mickey Hatcher and Juan Castro.  Go here for more information about the Old-Timers Game.

Former Brooklyn Dodger Ralph Mauriello will perform the national anthem. Cey, Guerrero and Yeager will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

  • The Military Hero of the Game is retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Octavious Wiley of Eastvale. Born in Indio, Wiley played college baseball before joining the Army. He deployed during the Bosnian and Kuwaiti conflicts and received numerous accolades while serving and leading in the Infantry Division. He also served as a recruiter, recruiter trainer and recruiting station commander. He has been a volunteer coach for high school football and his sons’ recreational baseball, basketball and soccer teams.

Sunday's game starts at 1:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 10:40 AM, and stadium gates open at 11:10 AM.

It is Viva Los Dodgers in the Dodgers parking lot prior to the game at the Historic 76 Station.  Festivities begin at 11:10 AM. Entertainment will be provided by Buenda Onda. Cuba Swift Salsa Dancers will be on hand to teach fans how to dance to salsa. Dodger alumni Kenny Landreaux and Dennis Powell will sign autographs for fans.

It is Cuban Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium.  Folks who ordered a special ticket package will get an exclusive Cuban Heritage Night t-shirt.  See that on the left.  If not already sold out go here for information.

The Dodgers will present a Community Hero Award to Guillermo de la Viña, founder and CEO of Sigue Corporation. Initially, Sigue Corporation provided money transfer service to Mexico and today, the company serves millions of people throughout the world. As a philanthropist, de la Viña supports many organizations and non-profit groups.

Omar y Argelia, hosts of the No. 1 morning show in Spanish Contemporary from the No. 1 Spanish station in Los Angeles K-LOVE 107.5FM, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

On the field Sunday representing the ALS Association Golden West Chapter will be Judy and Bruce Williams of Rancho Mirage. They have been married for 46 years and are devoted Dodger fans of more than 35 years. Joining Judy and Bruce will be their adult children, Sherri and Mike. Judy was diagnosed with ALS on December 14, 2014 and is the team captain for “Judy's Blue Crew” at the upcoming Walk to Defeat ALS in October. Her son, Mike, will represent the ALS community and the Golden West Chapter by throwing the first pitch Sunday to honor all with ALS, their families, caregivers and loved ones who have been touched by this devastating disease.   • The Military Hero of the Game posthumously is U.S. Marine Corps Master Sergeant Ted Horton-Billard Sr. of Banning. The Dodgers selected Horton-Billard to serve as military hero in late May, but he passed away on June 8. He was 94. The Dodgers will recognize his service with his family on the field. Horton-Billard was a World War II veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. After the Marine Corps, he served in the Army Reserve and worked as an executive in the retail security industry, serving as director of security for Park LaBrea in Los Angeles and other facilities. He played baseball until he was 90 years old.
