Blog Kiosk: 12/5/2019 - Dodgers Links & News - Some Odds and Ends

Above is a 1950's era New York Herald Tribune press photograph featuring Carl Furillo rounding thirdbase, presumably after hitting a home run (eBay auction link). He is greeted by coach Walter Alston. Unfortunately, an exact date of the photo is unknown. It was originally taken by staff photographer Jack Frank.

On Saturday, John Shoemaker, former Vero Beach Dodgers manager, cited a comment made by Vin Scully, legendary Dodgers broadcaster.
“ ‘Good is not good when better is expected’,” Shoemaker quoted Scully as saying. “He was definitely talking about Joe Sanchez.
“Joe Sanchez was a major league guy. He was just working in a minor league town. Joe Sanchez was better than good.”
And he loved to have fun, Shoemaker said.

  • Per Maury Brown at Forbes -- "MLB Clubs Are Now Able To Sell Local Streaming Rights: Why That Is A Huge Deal." I am crossing my fingers in the hope that the Dodgers do what's right. Please help us cut the cord.
