2013 Panini Pinnacle Baseball - Dodgers Clear Vision Insert Cards

Following up on my posts last week featuring Panini's newest Baseball card set, 2013 Pinnacle, I now share with you the Clear Vision Dodgers insert cards.  Check out my past post here.

The Clear Vision cards have a transparent window that denotes either a pitching or hitting outcome.  There are 5 different variations available for each player.

For the Clayton Kershaw Clear Vision cards there is a win, complete game, shutout, no hitter and perfect game variations.  Unfortunately, I have yet to see the no hitter and perfect game variations.  They are extremely scarce.  In fact, the perfect game variation is a "1 of 1".

Clear Vision Inserts Cards: #17 Clayton Kershaw

Win                                                     Complete Game

Shutout

Three Dodger hitters have Clear Vision cards - Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez.  The variations available are single, double, triple, home run and cycle.  Like the Kershaw's above, I have yet to see two of the variations - home run and cycle.  The cycle variation is a "1 of 1".

Unfortunately, I have yet to see an Adrian Gonzalez Triple Clear Vision card.

2013 Panini Pinnacle Baseball - Dodgers Base Cards

Trying to capitalize on the popularity of an older Baseball card sets from the early 90's, Panini just released their newest product called Pinnacle.  It borrows many of the original design elements that made Pinnacle of the early 90's so popular.  They are black bordered beauties with dark shadow backgrounds.  Unfortunately, since Panini doesn't have an MLB license they lack the perfect look that team logo's naturally provide.

Check out the Dodger base cards below.

#22 Clayton Kershaw                           #54 Adrian Gonzalez

There are 3 different parallel cards inserted into packs: Museum Collection, Artist Proof, Artist Proof Blue Parallels.  The below two cards (Crawford & Ramirez) are "Artist Proof" parallel cards.  Notice the silver foil "AP" stamping on the bottom left.  Museum Collection cards are super shiny.

#64 Carl Crawford                              #119 Hanley Ramirez

#128 Zack Greinke                                #137 Matt Kemp

#170 Hyun-Jin Ryu                                #184 Paco Rodriguez

#193 Yasiel Puig

  • The just returned Dodger beat writer Tony Jackson recently spoke with MikedupRadio.  Listen to it here.  BTW, if you didn't already know, Tony Jackson has returned to write about the Dodgers.  Check out his new site here: DodgerScribe.com.  He will be the first independent Dodger writer/blogger to try out a business model consisting of a paywall (that will be implemented next Spring).  It'll be fascinating to see how that works out.  I've seen it done for politically minded blogs, but I'm unsure if there are any sports blogs/websites doing it.  Is there a market for this?  One thing I would suggest is that you would really need to offer both free and exclusive content in order to both establish and grow your market (like, Talking Points Memo)
