Blog Kiosk: 10/2/2018 - Dodgers Links - National League West Division Champions!

(pic via Jon SooHoo at Dodger Insider)
Unquestionably, this is the best photo taken of last nights victory party, via a tweet by MLB. Even better, Matt Kemp and his fellow "Boys in Blue" doused Tommy with a beer shower during a postgame interview. You watch a bit of that here. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"What I see now is the same as I saw back then," Roberts said, clutching tightly a bottle of champagne. "With all the adversity we put ourselves in, we knew we could overcome. I never wavered from believing that and they never wavered either. It's a long season. That's why you play 163."
On another note, I'll leave you with this tweet from Jon Morosi of the MLB Network:

  • This Day in Dodgers History: In 1963 Sandy Koufax become the first pitcher to fan fifteen in a World Series game as he defeated the Yankees, 5-2, during Game 1. Watch highlights of this game as called by Vin Scully here. In 1977 Dusty Baker hit his 30th homer of the year to become the fourth player on the team (along with Ron Cey, Steve Garvey and Reggie Smith) to have hit as many home runs during a season. This is the first time this has happened in the history of the game. In 2004 Steve Finley hit a ninth inning walk-off grand slam against the Giants at Dodger Stadium that clinched the NL West title for the Dodgers. Watch Vin Scully's call here.

Blog Kiosk: 7/6/2018 - Dodgers Links - First Place, Baby!

Woo Hoo! For the first time this season the Dodgers are in first place.

The trepidation that began at the start of the season is now but a distant memory.

  • This Day in Dodgers History: In 1938 Leo Durocher recorded a "little league" home run that started as an sacrifice bunt in the seventh inning during the All-Star Game played in Cincinnati. Durocher was credited with a bunt single and came around to score on errors by Jimmy Foxx and Joe DiMaggio. In 1979 the Dodgers purchased the contract of pitcher Fernando Valenzuela from Puebla of the Mexican League. In 1980 the Dodgers retired Duke Snider's uniform #4 during that days Old-Timers Day ceremonies at Dodger Stadium. In 2000 Vin Scully is voted the No. 1 sportscaster of the 20th century by members of the American Sportscasters Association.

First Rounder JT Ginn Already Has a Bunch of Cards to Chase After - Check Them All Out Here

Now that you know a little bit about our first round pick, I figured it be a good time to check out the numerous Baseball cards that already exist for the 19-year-old hurler. That's right. This high school kid already has a dozen licensed cards to chase after. Check them all out below. If I happen to miss any cards please let me know.

Dodgers Pick Right-Hander JT Ginn in the First Round - Welcome to the Blue!

Yesterday, dreams were fulfilled when both high school and college aged kids got selected to begin a pro career. For the Dodgers, picking 30th overall in this years draft, they decided to dip into those high school prep waters and selected a high-heat 19-year-old right-hander by the name of JT Ginn. The kid stands over six feet tall and throws a baseball faster than just about any other amateur in the game today. He is also on twitter: @JT_Ginn3. Per a Dodgers press release:
The Los Angeles Dodgers today selected right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn with their first pick (30th overall) in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Brandon High School (MS).

Blog Kiosk: 6/5/2018 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

As you know the Dodgers selected high-schooler JT Ginn as their 1st Round Pick (30th overall) last night, and as we collectors have come to expect he already has a bunch of Baseball cards to chase after. Unusually, our 2nd Round Pick, Michael Grove, a college pitcher out of West Virginia, does not appear to have any cards on the market. Nevertheless, I'll be sure to be making a couple of fantasy Baseball cards for both of them soon. So stay tuned for that.
