Video: Dodgers in Taiwan

Blog Kiosk: 3/14/2010

  • Here is an interesting article from Lakers Noise about Jerry West autobiography that touches on sex. What I find interesting, though, is this one quote on this blog.
Joe McDonnell: “I could tell you Dodger stories for a year and tomorrow about stuff going on down in little rooms at the club house before the games. It’s prevalent in all sports. In baseball, it can happen during a game. In basketball, it always happens after a game.”

You Rock, Tommy

I think the reason I, and most of Dodger Nation, loves Tommy is because of his unabashed homerism. He is a true blue Dodger cheerleader. No ways around it. He is "in your face" when it comes to his love of the team and I love him for it.

As further proof, check out this series of tweets he put out this afternoon.

Vintage Dodger Stadium 1968

Here are some fan made vintage photos found on eBay from a Sunday afternoon game in 1968. It is June 9th, just three days after the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, as the Dodgers faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies. As you'll notice, the flags in the outfield are at half-mast and a honor guard is present. With it so soon after his death you know it must have been a solemn day. The crowds are very sparse, but, at least, they had a chance to see the Dodgers beat the Phillies 4 to 3. Click on any of the photos for a detailed view.

Tommy In Taiwan

As you know, the Dodgers are in Taiwan for an exhibition series. So, Tommy decided to share some old pics on twitter from the time they visit the country in 1993. Here they are below.

Russell Martin National Chicle Artwork

Slowly but surely, Topps has been releasing pics from their upcoming National Chicle Baseball set. So far it's looking like it will be filled with some incredible artwork. Per the Card Junk blog, we see even more great drawings. In fact, he points to a Russell Martin piece made by artist Dave Hobrecht. See it below. Heck, buy the original direct from the artist on eBay. It was originally done in B&W, and color was later added by the artist for the card set.

Below is the color version that will be put into the set.
Here are some other great drawings done by Hobrecht.
