The pursuit of historic Baseballs was alive and well in the 50's. Featured above is a early August 1957 AP press photo of Gil Hodges with the Chicago Cubs fan who snagged Gil's record 13th career grand slam. (eBay link) (boxscore link) Per the descriptor on the reverse:
Gil Hodges gets ball he hit for record 13th grand slam yesterday from Robert Chilla, 28, who recovered it in left field bleachers.  Chilla got new ball in exchange.

Tommy Lasorda, the 89-year-old Hall of Famer who has been a club-rep fixture at this event each year for the Dodgers, will not be able to attend following surgery last Thursday to replace a pacemaker. But in his place at the club's table will be Cey, one of his on-field fixtures at third base in the '70s and '80s.
