2017 Topps Transcendent Collection - The Corey Seager Sketch Ball

The highest of the high-end Baseball card brands was officially released today, and I decided to take a little bit of time to see if any of the Dodger cards had made it onto eBay yet. Considering a factory price tag of about $25,000 a box (of which only 87 exist) I figured this would be the only way I'd ever see them. As I was cruising around the online marketplace I saw something that I immediately knew I had to highlight.

Check it out above and below. Featured is an original hand-drawn sketch Baseball of Corey Seager and it currently has a price tag of $5,500 (eBay link here). It was drawn by sports artist Mayumi Seto. You can check out a bunch of her other work on Instagram, here.

Best yet, the Baseball used is a real game-used ball. Per the MLB authentication sticker (as seen on the right), the Baseball was used during a game against the Giants on June 11, 2016, and Corey Seager grounded the ball into a seventh inning fielders choice -- getting Kike Hernandez out at third base.

As you may know, in addition to a bunch of very scarce cards and autographs in a box 2017 Transcendent, you get one original hand-drawn memorabilia item. Most purchasers will get one of the 65 different "1 of 1" sketch cards that are available, but 22 lucky collectors will walk away with a sketch ball instead. From my understanding, famed Baseball artist Monty Sheldon also contributed numerous painted/drawn Baseballs for this product. (Check out an interview I did with him in 2013, here) In total 22 different original hand-drawn sketch Baseballs are available, and the Dodgers checklist also includes Clayton Kershaw, Cody Bellinger, Yu Darvish.

Below is a video from Topps introducing these painted balls to the collecting public.
