Blog Kiosk: 6/11/2018 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

Depth means that anybody can be your staff ace at any time. For instance, the season began with Kershaw at the top of the heap. As soon as he went down with an injury rookie hurler Walker Buehler stepped up to lead the rotation. Now, spot-starter Ross Stripling has taken the reigns as our #1. He went 6.2 innings of four-hit ball to defeat the Braves, 7-2. Per Kaelen Jones at
"I was able to get off to a good start," Stripling said. "I went through the lineup once I think [in] less than 30 pitches, so I was in a good spot, then had a 33-pitch fourth. Obviously, the two homers, then was able to limit it to that. After that, you know you're trying to get through that inning and settle down and [I] was able to do that. Went 6 2/3 and just give us a chance to win, which is what I was trying to do when I went out there."
The Dodgers have won in each of Stripling's last five starts. His performance Sunday was buoyed by Los Angeles' offense, which bounced back from a quiet night Saturday to post seven runs while collecting 10 hits.

Buehler underwent a CT scan and X-rays, both of which came back negative and revealing no fracture.
"Our timetable with Walker, right now, is really wide open," Roberts said, "because we don't want to jeopardize anything if we can with certain things."
"Could he play today? Yes. Is his wrist getting better? Absolutely," said Roberts. "But I think for us, having an off-day tomorrow, having him available to hit today, not push it to gain that equity we've built in the last couple days -- right now, where we're at, it just doesn't make sense."
Earlier this weekend, Roberts said Turner would start on Sunday. But Turner told him on Sunday the wrist was still sore.
"Logic says that if there's some soreness in there and you crank it up and you get going and you take a hundred swings and you play in a game, it's probably not going to get better," said Roberts. "So that residual soreness, I'm betting on taking today [off] and another day, with the off-day, that it'll dissipate come Tuesday."
Rios is one of the best pure hitters in the minors and he was on fire on Sunday. Rios hit a pair of home runs and a double as part of a 4-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 5 RBIs.
