Blog Kiosk: 10/24/2018 - Dodgers Links - No Worries! Game 2 is Tonight!

It's always tough to lose the first game of a playoff series. Nevertheless, it's nothing to worry too much about. Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“It’s baseball, we know things can change real quick,” Kemp said. “You know what happened in Milwaukee, we lost the first game and we bounced back.”
Accentuate the positive.

On a side note, did you happen to hear the Dodger chants during the game? That was something I didn't expect to hear.

One of my promises to Nana has always been to take her to a Dodgers game once a year. Due to her deteriorating health and lack of mobility, it always feels like it’s going to be her last. Thank God, she has proven us all wrong year after year and I’ve been so lucky to take her to the Ravine for the past 10 years. While this year really does feel like it’s going to be the last time (God willing it’s not), it really was the best time!
Price, the Red Sox left-hander, basically has a four pitch mix that consists of a sinker, four-seam fastball, cutter, and changeup. There’s also a curve, but he rarely uses it these days— he threw the hook just 2.7 percent of the time in 2018 and hasn’t thrown one at all since August. The fastball and sinker both average 93 miles per hour, the cutter is about 88, and the changeup 86.

First of all, it’s time to get Yasmani Grandal back in the lineup. He’s much, much better against fastballs from lefties than Austin Barnes, with a .446 wOBA compared to .302.
MR: I think people don't know that Alex and Dave actually played for you in winter ball in Puerto Rico before being teammates in L.A.
JC: Yes, Alex was already our shortstop. I needed to sign some players as reinforcements, so I decided to sign Dave Roberts [for the 1999-2000 winter ball season], who at that time played center field for Cleveland. We were looking for a center fielder with speed, and Dave had all the characteristics we were looking for. He had a very good season.
  • Per Paul Lukas at UniWatch; "A Uni Watch Look at Game One of the World Series." Did you notice that the Dodgers were not wearing their 60th anniversary patch? Urias also had "Nana" written on the underbrim of his cap, in honor of his late grandmother.
  • Via Jason Owens at Yahoo Sports; "Clayton Kershaw, Yasiel Puig get assists from LAPD during World Series."
This year, Los Angeles police are reportedly getting out ahead of the game while the Dodgers play the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.
TMZ reports that the LAPD are working with Dodgers stars including Puig, Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner to prevent a repeat of last year’s incident at Puig’s house.
