As has been tradition, all ballplayers will be wearing #42 on their uniform. UPDATE: It was noted this morning, via Chris Creamer at SportsLogos.net, that the Dodgers will wear 1947 throwback uniforms today in celebration of Jackie Robinson Day. Go here for more details. The Dodgers will wear Brooklyn "B" caps and the uniform will feature a couple of changes that only a uniform-junkie will notice -- numbers on back will be thicker, the jersey cut and seams will reflect '47 styles, and the Dodger script will be slightly different.

The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Jackie Robinson #42 Jersey. See it on the right.

Jackie's wife, Rachel Robinson, daughter, Sharon, and son, David will take part in pregame ceremonies. Festivities include 42 current and former Jackie Robinson Foundation scholars (six of which are current Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation scholars), while students from Robinson’s elementary, middle and high schools -  Cleveland Elementary School, Washington Middle School and John Muir High School – will have pregame honors.

There will also be a pregame performance by singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc. Furthermore, 14-time Grammy-winning musician Herbie Hancock will participate in pregame ceremonies. The national anthem will be sung by Keith Williams, Jr.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation will hold a silent auction on the Club Level outside the Vin Scully Press Box during today's game, and new for 2019, fans can bid on the unique memorabilia using MLB’s Ballpark App. Also new for 2019, fans will be able to purchase tickets for LADF’s 50-50 raffle using their credit cards. LADF will also continue to offer ribbon board messages as a fundraiser in 2019.

For ESPN's broadcast an essay honoring Robinson, voiced by his daughter, Sharon, and written by 2017 J.G. Taylor Spink Award winner and ESPN baseball news editor Claire Smith, will air during both games of ESPN’s Monday night doubleheader. This essay is one in a series of five pieces written by Smith and voiced by Sharon Robinson. The other features, which will air throughout the week, are about Hank Aaron, airing Sunday, The Negro Leagues, airing Tuesday, Willie Mays, airing Wednesday, and Frank Robinson, airing Thursday.

Sharon Robinson will appear as an in-game booth guest for ESPN. Coverage also includes elements highlighting Jackie Robinson’s career at UCLA and pregame ceremony coverage.
