Welcome to the Blue, Casey Sadler!

It seems likely that the Dodgers will try to find a solution to their bullpen woes during the second-half of the season -- by calling up some youngsters or guys recently traded for. First up is right-hander Casey Sadler. He was acquired by the Dodgers a couple of weeks ago from the Rays, and has appeared in two games for the Oklahoma City Dodgers before being called up yesterday. Although he had given up four runs in those two appearances, he did it by striking out nine batters while walking only one. Per a Dodgers press release:
The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled right-handed pitcher Casey Sadler from Triple-A Oklahoma City and designated left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup for assignment. Sadler will wear number 65.
Sadler, 29, joined Los Angeles on July 3 from Tampa Bay in exchange for right-handed pitcher Nathan Witt. He made two appearances for Oklahoma City prior to the promotion, firing six innings and allowing four runs. On the season, he is a combined 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA (14 ER/38.1 IP) in 13 games for Durham and Oklahoma City. Sadler is in his fourth Major League season, accumulating a 1-1 record with 4.38 ERA (19 ER/38.0 IP) in 18 career games.

As you know, Sadler made his Dodger debut during the last two innings of last night's blowout victory, but he was far from perfect -- yielding two hits, allowing one earned run on a sac-fly while striking out two. Sadler then followed up the outing by tweeting:

BTW, Jeff Todd at MLB Trade Rumors wrote this about him a couple of weeks ago:
Soon to turn 29, Sadler sported a 1.86 ERA and 54.1% groundball rate in 19 1/3 innings with the Rays before getting the boot. His 11:5 K/BB ratio was less than impressive, though Sadler’s 8.9% swinging-strike rate was better than it had been in his prior efforts at the majors.
Sadler will open his tenure with the Dodgers on optional assignment at Triple-A. He’ll represent a depth option if and when a need arises. More significant relief upgrades remain a clear possibility this summer.
In celebration of Casey's promotion to LA I made two custom fantasy baseball cads of him. See both of them at the very top of this post.
