Once again Topps has inserted unique five-card packs in complete 2015 Topps Factory Sets sold either online, at local hobby stores or retail centers, and a couple of notable Dodger players are a part of those limited sets.
These cards are incentives for collectors to purchase the complete (Series 1 & 2) packaged sets. They are unique and for a player-collector a must-have.
The All-Star Game set insert includes the following checklist:
Clayton Kershaw
Buster Posey
Mike Trout
Jose Abreu
Miguel Cabrera
The Rookie Photo Variations include the following checklist:
Here is a final look at the Dodger cards available in 2015 Topps Series 2 Baseball. Unfortunately, I do not have many images to share for these particular subsets. Below are pics and a checklist for the Strata Cut Signature, MLB All-Star Autographs, Hot Streak and Bunt Player Code Cards. Go here to check out all of my previous post on this set.
I hope you're not getting sick of Topps 2015 Series 2 Baseball packs 'cause I've got even more Dodger inserts cards to gaze at. Go here to check out all of my previous post on this set. Below are the Highlight of the Year, Stepping Up and Own the Name cards.
Here are even more Dodger insert cards found in packs of Topps 2015 Series 2 Baseball packs. Go here to check out all of my previous post on this set. Below are the Career High, First Home Run (which includes Clayton Kershaw and former Dodger Matt Kemp) and the Heart of the Order cards.
On a side note, I am amazed at how frequently we see Johnny Podres autographed cards in new Topps set. He had passed away over seven years ago. Podres must have signed thousands of those stickers for Topps.
Now that you've seen the base cards and the "First Pitch" cards check out some of the inserts below. Featured are the Baseball Royalty, Eclipsing History, Commemorative Bat Knobs & Pins and the always popular Coins & Stamps cards below. I'll have photos of the other inserts next week.
Take a look at the Dodger base cards found in packs of Topps Series 2 packs. This set was officially released to collectors yesterday. Go here to check out a complete checklist, and here to see all of my previous post on this set.
Of special note is possibly the last Juan Uribe card in a Dodger uniform. Who am I kidding, though. Topps is likely to include him as a Dodger in various other upcoming sets. Also, I especially love the no-hitter tribute card for Josh Beckett. As you know, he retired from the game over the winter.
I really like these "First Pitch" cards put out by Topps in their flagship Baseball card packs, and especially love that the Dodgers are featured in so many of them.
Admittedly, though, I think the Giants (ugh!) might have beaten us out for the quality of guest in this series. There are cards for Marvel comic mastermind Stan Lee and Grateful Dead percussinist Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart in Giants uniforms.
Officially released today is Topps 2015 Series 2 Baseball cards and featured below are the "First Pitch" cards of a couple of Hollywood stars who are included. As you might recall, the Series 1 edition included three Dodger cards. Check out those cards here; including a Jeff Bridges card.
Below are pics of each Dodger card and a video featuring the actual "First Pitch" being made. Click on any photo to embiggen.
First Pitch
#FP-16 Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer came out to Dodger Stadium in early August with co-star Martin Lawrence. Unfortunately, only Grammer is on this card. They were promoting a new show on FX called 'Partners' where they play
Chicago lawyers, and unlikely partners in the law firm.
Funny woman Melissa McCarthy came out to Dodger Stadium to promoter her movie 'Tammy" on June 6th last season, and as you can see below she hurled a fairly good pitch. Sure, it might've bounced, but at least it was on target. BTW, she also announced "Time for Dodger baseball" with her husband Ben Falcone.
