Opening Day Diamondback's Series Starts Tuesday - Pregame Info and Other Stuff!

The first homestand of the season starts tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, April 12th) against the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand.  At this time I only have detailed Opening Day information.  I will update this post with more info for the games on Wednesday and Thursday as they arrive.

It is Opening Day at Dodger Stadium.  The game starts at 1:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 10:00 AM, and the stadium gates open at 10:00 AM.  Dodger batting practice will be from 9:50 AM – 10:55 AM.  Diamondbacks batting practice will be from 11:00 AM – 11:55 AM.  Opening Day pregame entertainment throughout the stadium begins at 10:00 AM, and on-field pregame ceremonies begin at 12:15 PM.  As always, tailgating is not allowed within the stadium parking areas.  Go here for information on parking/tailgating restrictions in areas around Dodger Stadium.

Dodger Insider magazine will be free at Dodger Stadium autogates (one per vehicle) and at Fan Services booths.  See a copy of the Opening Day issue on the right - featuring Manager Dave Roberts.

Live music will be offered throughout the stadium from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Angel City Dixie Band will entertain in the left-field reserve level, a Real 92.3 DJ in the right-field reserve level, DJ ADM in the right-field plaza, a 102.7 KIIS-FM DJ in the left-field plaza and a MYFM DJ on the top deck. The Budweiser Clydesdales will also make a special appearance beginning at 10:30 AM, making stops around the inner parking circle throughout pregame.

The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Dodgers magnet schedule when you enter the gates.  Sam Harris, lead singer of X Ambassadors, will perform the national anthem.  Representatives from the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force will present our nation’s colors. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces will unfurl a giant flag in center field. LADP Air Support Division will conduct a formation flight.

Opening Day will be highlighted by a special ceremonial first pitch honoring Hall of Famer Vin Scully, who is in his 67th and final season in the broadcast booth for the Dodgers. Pregame ceremonies will celebrate many of the great moments in Scully’s iconic career.
  • Opening Day’s Military Hero of the Game is retired U.S. Army/U.S. Coast Guard Sergeant Eddie Arambula of Torrance. Arambula joined the U.S. Army in 2002 and in March 2004 was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Arambula later joined the U.S. Coast Guard as Maritime Enforcement Specialist. In 2011, he deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will hold an auction during the game in front of the Vin Scully press box on the club level. Opening Day items include a Clayton Kershaw autographed jersey, Corey Seager autographed baseball and Adrian Gonzalez autographed photo. The auction will end at 2:45 PM. For the first time ever in-stadium merchandise stores (Top of The Park and Left Field Stores) will carry a 47 Brand LADF Logo Tee.   • The Dodgers are launching a Star Wars collaboration with pennants, cups and lanyards and a Marvel movie-series lanyard. Opening Day merchandise includes a 2016 Opening Day T-shirt, Opening Day pin and Opening day baseball.

Wednesday, April 11th at 7:10 PM
RHP Rubby De La Rosa (0-1, 16.20) vs. LHP Alex Wood (0-1, 9.00)

Wednesday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Dodgers adult hooded sweatshirt.  See that on the right.

IndyCar driver Charlie Kimball will throw the ceremonial first pitch tomorrow and singer, songwriter and recording artist Haley Reinhart will perform the national anthem.
  • The Military Heroes of the Game are U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeants Ruben and Olivia Muñoz of Chino. They met in the U.S. Air Force where Olivia has served for 14 years with deployments to Kyrgyzstan, Qatar and Kuwait. Ruben, who has served for 4 years, served a deployment to Balad Air Base Iraq.

Thursday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM.

Reign Edwards, from the hit CBS daytime series “The Bold & the Beautiful,” will perform the national anthem. Mutiple GRAMMY award-winning drummer Nathan Followill of Kings of Leon will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Joshua Campbell of Edwards. Campbell has served in the U.S. Air Force for 7 years, including two tours to Afghanistan and was recently relocated to Edwards Air Force Base.
