2017 Topps Now -- #547 -- Kershaw's Scoreless Return

Here is a Topps Now card released this past Saturday that I just plain didn't see, so I was unable to highlight it over the weekend. Which it too bad, since Clayton Kershaw's performance in San Diego on Friday was the only good think about the long holiday weekend.

As you know, Clayton had been on the shelf for over month, so you couldn't blame him if he was a little rusty. Thankfully, that was not to be the case. Instead, he went six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, no walks and striking out seven. Per A.J. Cassavell and Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"Efficiency wise, I think it was as good as you could have expected or hoped," said Kershaw. "Usually you think about 15 pitches an inning. I was fortunate to get through six. I got early outs and threw strikes so they had to swing the bats."
As I said, the Topps Now card shown here is no sold out. Only 399 copies were made. Per the description on the reverse:
Clayton Kershaw returned form the disabled list by tossing a dominant six scoreless innings to help the Los Angeles Dodgers snap a season-long five-game skid, and move to 51 games over .500. In first start since July 23, Kershaw was limited to just 70 pitches, but still struck out seven Padres batters while allowing two hits on the night.
