Blog Kiosk: 3/19/2018 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

Thew Dodgers came out with green St. Patrick's Day caps for Saturday's festivities. Unfortunately, Ryu wasn't exactly stellar, but improving. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"I thought Ryu was considerably better than the line," Roberts said after Ryu was charged with five runs on seven hits in three innings of the Dodgers' 5-2 loss to the White Sox.
"There was a double play that wasn't turned. Pitch count got up because of that. I thought there were some pitches he was squeezed. I thought he threw the ball well. Velocity was good. The change, cutter/slider, continues to improve. Happy he finished the third with a double play.

"It's fair to say he's performed well and he came in shape, made a statement. When we acquired him, we didn't know what kind of shape he was in. We went off what he was last year, coming off an injury. The way he came in initially made a statement in itself. We're not going to make any decisions now. Obviously, we have time for that. He's getting a very good look."

“The second part was, you should feel something special when you put a Dodger jersey on,” Garvey said. “Yes, there have been historic franchises. Everybody thinks of the Yankees, the Cardinals, and maybe the Tigers. But nobody over the last 70 years has influenced the game more than the Dodgers.
“They have been good times and bad, but now they’re consistently competitive year in and year out. The evolution from bankruptcy to where the franchise is, I said I’m proud of it. But I said it’s all about each of you feeling something when you put [the uniform] on and creating more history.”
“I think it’s great. He’s obviously done a lot in this city,” manager Dave Roberts said. “We have two days over six weeks and I’ve tried to give certain guys a couple extra days to be away just for kind of their own days. Justin wants to take his personal day to do stuff for the community and I think that’s fantastic.”
