Padres Series Starts Friday - Player's Weekend - Stadium Giveaways, Pregame Info and Other Stuff!


The next homestand starts on Friday against the San Diego Padres. Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand. Here are some important links:
This weekend is the second annual 'Players Weekend' throughout the Major Leagues. All teams will be wearing special uniforms with unique nicknames on their backs and have the opportunity to wear and use uniquely colored cleats, bats and other equipment. Each player will also have the opportunity to recognize someone who was instrumental in his personal development, or a baseball player who inspired him, on a jersey patch on his right sleeve (see that patch on the right). Friday, August 24th at 7:10 PM

Friday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:30 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:00 PM. It is Friday Night Fireworks, so fans will be able to go down onto the outfield after the game to watch the spectacle. The night's theme will be a 'Players Weekend' Mix featuring songs selected by current Dodgers. Go here for more information on Friday Night Fireworks.

The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Dodgers branded Cooling Towel. See it on the right.

It is Healthcare Night at Dodger Stadium. Folks who order a special ticket package will get an exclusive Dodgers' Healthcare Night t-shirt. See that on the left. If not already sold out go here for more information.

Steve Garvey will be hosting a 'Grillin With Garv' talk (providing grilling tips and food samples) on Friday, prior to this game, at the King’s Hawaiian® Grill in the Left Field Pavilion at 6:00 PM. Garvey will also be taking photos and sign autographs for fans at the event leading up to the 7:10 p.m. first pitch.

Saturday, August 25th at 6:10 PM

Saturday's game starts at 6:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 3:30 PM, and stadium gates open at 4:00 PM.

The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Dave Roberts replica batting practice jersey. See it on the right.

The National Anthem will be sung by Dave Roberts’ daughter, Emmerson Roberts. A ceremonial First Pitch will be made by Kings players Dustin Brown, Tyler Toffoli, Alec Martinez and Nate Thompson. Also, a First Pitch will be thrown by Sammy Rosa -- son of fallen Long Beach Fire Captain David Rosa who was killed in the line of duty on June 25.

It is LA Kings Night at Dodger Stadium. Folks who order a special ticket package will get an exclusive Dodgers' LA Kings Night jersey. See that on the left. If not already sold out go here for more information.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Silent Auction features autographed memorabilia and is located outside the Vin Scully Press Box.

Sunday, August 26th at 1:10 PM

Sunday's game starts at 1:10 PM. Auto gates open at 10:40 AM, and stadium gates open at 11:00 AM.

The first 12,000 ticketed kids (14 & under) in attendance will receive a Jr. Dodgers socks. See it on the right.

It is Viva Los Dodgers in the Dodgers parking lot prior to the game at the Historic 76 Station in Lot 6. They will be celebrating Cuba. Festivities begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM. Yasiel Puig is expected to appear on-stage during the event’s first hour in honor of Cuba Day. Both Manny Mota and scout Mike Brito will be signing autographs from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Las Chikas, an all-female Salsa and Cuban band, will also perform on stage. Go here for more information
