Blog Kiosk: 10/25/2019 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

Wow! What a photo.

Here's a great action shot of a play at home featuring Johnny Roseboro. Unfortunately, he was unable to hold on to the throw. (eBay auction link) From a June 3, 1962 game. Via the description on the reverse:
Bobby Wine, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop, is safe on this play at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday at Philadelphia. Wine had to jar the ball from the grasp of Dodger catcher John Roseboro on a hard slide. Wine scored from first base on John Callison's double to rightfield in the third inning. He had to slide to beat the relay throw from first baseman Ron Fairly on a peg from rightfielder Duke Snider. The Phillies handed the Dodgers their second straight loss 7-5.

While putting together a potential MVP season at the plate, Bellinger led all qualified Major League right fielders with 19 defensive runs saved and all qualified National League right fielders with a .990 fielding percentage. He also ranked second among NL right fielders with a 9.5 ultimate zone rating and 10 outfield assists.
  • Per CNS News at KNX1070 -- "Brothers Suing Dodgers, Allege Wrongfully Attacked by Security."
"Plaintiffs were attending this game with their family, all of whom were passionate and supportive fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team," the suit states.
However, members of the security team approached the plaintiffs in their seats during the game and informed them they were being ejected, but the siblings were not told why, the suit alleges. Both brothers were struck by one of the security members, causing them bruising and "disabling pain," the suit states.
  • Awesome! Per GCRL at Cards As I See Them -- "The Major League Hero I Needed." He finds the elusive Steve Yeager "Duke Temple" promo card for the movie Major League, and it's glorious.
  • Dodger coaches in high demand. Via a tweet from Craig Mish:
