"I'm just very happy to get the win in my Major League debut," Maeda said. "I was a little bit nervous at first, but my teammates scored four runs for me [in the first inning] and that helped me relax a lot. I was able to get back on the mound and do what I usually do."So, is swinging a mighty stick also a part of his repertoire?
"He did everything we thought he could do, and even hit a home run, so that's tough to match," said Clayton Kershaw. "Watching him hit in batting practice, I knew he had the ability, but I've played for eight years and hit one homer, so I'm pretty impressed. We're supposed to pitch good, but when we do that, that's Little League stuff."Watch an Japanese broadcast of his homer here. Photo above of Kenta Maeda via Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2016. Dodgers: Team president Friedman, reacting to a series of injuries down the stretch, buys Cuba to fortify team with major-league-ready replacements.
"I'm used to looking at paper and I kind of have certain things that I like to go to and reference when you walk through an individual game," Roberts said. "To navigate through an iPad, I don't want to have to worry about it loading up. I want to know where I have to go for information."
"SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT AFTER ALL. Danny Gawronski, 13, is as close to heaven as a Brooklyn boy can be, as Carl Furillo of his beloved Dodgers shows him how to use outfielder's glove, a present from the team, during workout at Ebbets Field today. It all started last April when Danny was given some Easter chicks which grew up into noisy roosters and complaints from neighbors which took Danny before a magistrate. Danny offered $3 in pennies, nickels and dimes he had saved toward a new baseball glove in way of a fine. Magistrate Charles Murphy dismissed complaint and the Dodgers did the rest."Now this is a Dodgers good deed I can get behind. Below are more links to check out:
The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced the signing of infielder Howie Kendrick to a two-year contract.
I had to take the subway home. I lived on Bay Parkway in Brooklyn. It was an elevated station. We had only one Giants fan in our neighborhood. His name was Davey Freed. I got off the train and as I’m walking down the stairs, Davey Freed is at the bottom of the stairs. All he did was laugh. He just laughed.
“I figured there would be quite a few suitors for me, and nobody was really calling. Here it is, getting close to spring training, and you keep hearing the same thing over and over.
“Nobody wanted to give up that draft pick. It was a shocker.’’
