Whenever I hear the name Philippe's my mind immediately wonders.  I imagine myself holding a lamb French single-dip sandwich with Swiss cheese and some "jus" on the side.  Dab on a little bit of their signature mustard and I'd be heaven.

Blue Heaven Blog Contest... And the Winner is....

A Blog Contest Update: A Current Tally - Contest Closes Wednesday Night

Wow!  You folks are really awesome.

The response to my very first contest of 2014 has been great.  Thank you all for participating.

1st Blog Contest of the Year - Win a Mint Graded Frank Thomas Rookie Card!

Following up on yesterdays announcement, I thought it would be the perfect time to start the new year with a Blog Contest featuring a graded rookie card of one of the newest members of the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Check it out above.

I will give away a Mint SGC 96 graded 1990 Bowman rookie card of Frank Thomas to one lucky reader.  Yes, it's as close to Gem Mint as you can get, and it features one of the 90's most intimidating sluggers.

I want to that thank everybody who participated in the Beatles CD giveaway contest. To all the winners, I just mailed them all out and included some cards that I hope will fill out your collections. There was one exception, though. The winner of the Magical Mystery Tour CD has not contacted me yet and I have no way of contacting her. The Beatles Contest Continues

Woo Hoo! Wow, what a prize package. I want to extend a big thanks to Jesse at EMI for providing these CD's to give away. I'm half wishing I kept this on the downlow so that I could have pocketed these for myself.
As I posted a couple of days ago, I would take the first CD I pulled out of the box as the prize for one of you. That happens to be the above CD- Magical Mystery Tour. It's newly remastered and includes a mini-documentary that I'm sure will enlighten and provide great enjoyment to the winner.

A Beatles Contest Celebrating their Anniversary at Dodger Stadium

I hadn't originally planned on writing much about this coming weekends festivities at Dodger Stadium. Sure, I love the Beatles like any other red-blooded rock fan, and with the 45th anniversary of their concert at Dodger Stadium coming this Sunday it certainly was notable that this homestand would feature this iconic band. Nevertheless, I was going to allow this weekend to pass with little mention until I got a message from a marketing director at EMI with an offer I could not refuse.

As a way of promoting this coming Beatles themed weekend they have offered to provide 5 different Beatles CD's to give away as prizes to readers. I have no idea which record will be arriving, but as soon as they do you will find out. In the meantime, let's start off with a quick contest for one of the Beatles records. The Dodgers will play Beatles music throughout the weekend series and at Tuesday’s game, including the songs from the 1966 concert set list.

Friday, August 26th

• Friday Night Fireworks set to Beatles music
• Bob Eubanks, former host of “The Newlywed Game” and the promoter that brought The Beatles to Dodger Stadium in 1966, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game on Friday, August 26.

Sunday, August 28th

• The day of the Beatles concert at Dodger Stadium 45 years ago.
  

Tuesday, August 30th

• Cast of Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas will perform on the field before the game and throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
• The cast will also perform an act from their GRAMMY® Award-winning Las Vegas production. The performance will take place at approximately 7:00 p.m. on the field and will feature dancers and acrobats from “Drive My Car.”

Special ticket packages for Beatles and Cirque du Soleil fans are available for the Dodgers’ weekend series against the Rockies from August 26-28 as well as for Tuesday, August 30 when the Dodgers take on the San Diego Padres. Tickets in the Preferred Field Box section are available for $40 and come with a commemorative gift from LOVE. This limited edition offer is available only through www.dodgers.com/LOVE.

Contest: Donate to the USO - Win a Gift Bag

The USO is a great American charitable group that provides morale and recreational services to members of the US Military. They provide essential services to our fighting men and women by creating a "home away from home" for our loved ones. That's why when I received an email from them asking if I would help promote a contest and donation drive while providing a gift bag for me to give away to one of you I immediately said yes.

The USO contest will run to July 31, with three awesome prizes. The one prize I was told about is the Dodgers VIP Experience: a trip for four to LA, field level tickets for an LA Dodgers game, the chance to watch batting practice on the field before the game, and Tommy Lasorda signed items for the group! It's a pretty awesome prize and I know any of you would be thrilled to win!
