You can't stop this train!

Joc Pederson, Max Muncy and Yasiel Puig all hit homers against the portly one, Bartolo Colon, last night to continue an offensice spurt that has seen the Dodgers go from ten games below .500 to games back to two games above. They now sit just three games back of the Diamondbacks. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"This energy, this confidence. Hitting is contagious," said Pederson. "It's a fun thing. Winning's fun."
...
"I try not to think about it. It's hard not to," Muncy said of his torrid streak. "Games are a lot of fun right now. Everyone's feeling the momentum up and down the lineup."

  • This Day in Dodgers HistoryIn 1973 the famed Dodger infield of Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Ron Cey play on the field for the first time. Ten days later they would be inserted into the starting lineup for the first time. In 1998 the very first triple play is executed at Dodger Stadium. It sequence is 1-6-4-5 in the fifth inning -- with men at 1st and 2nd, Darren Dreifort fields a sacrifice bunt attempt, throws to shortstop Jose Vizcaino at 2nd, who then throws to covering second baseman Eric Young at 1st, who then throws to Bobby Bonilla at 3rd to get the final out. • This Day in Dodgers HistoryIn 1940 the Dodgers made one of the biggest trades in their history. They received 1937 Triple Crown winner Joe "Ducky" Medwick and pitcher Curt Davis from the Cardinals for outfielder Ernie Koy, pitcher Carl Doyle, two minor leaguers and $125k in cash (a huge sum in those days). The Dodgers would win the pennant the following season for the first time since 1920. In 1955 Don Newcombe, having won his first ten decisions of the season, lost his first game of the year when Brooklyn loses to the Cubs, 9-5. In 2005 first baseman Hee-Seop Choi hit home runs in his first three at-bats this evening against the Twins to propel the Dodgers over Minnesota, 4-3. Watch all three here.

Welcome to the Blue, Daniel Corcino!

The Dodgers bullpen has been a revolving door -- relievers are constantly shuffling back-and-forth between Los Angeles and Oklahoma City. So far, they have used 19 different players in relief. The newest Dodger to join our pen arrived over this past weekend, and has already thrown a scoreless inning. His name is Daniel Corcino. He is a right-hander and will wear #56. Per a Dodgers press release:
Corcino, 27, who will appear on a Major League roster for the first time since 2014, appeared in a combined 14 games (six starts) with Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City going 3-1 with one save and has posted a 2.22 ERA (11 ER/44.2 IP). He has also struck out a combined 43 batters against 16 walks, while limiting the opposition to a .190 average. Corcino has spent the majority of the season with the OKC Dodgers, going 2-0 with a 1.95 ERA (8 ER/37.0 IP) and has held batters to a .182 average, while striking out 34 against 15 walks in 10 games (six starts). The right-hander was a non-roster invitee with the Dodgers during this past Spring Training and appeared in six Cactus League games, posting a 1.35 ERA (1 ER/6.2 IP) and struck out five against two walks.

Depth means that anybody can be your staff ace at any time. For instance, the season began with Kershaw at the top of the heap. As soon as he went down with an injury rookie hurler Walker Buehler stepped up to lead the rotation. Now, spot-starter Ross Stripling has taken the reigns as our #1. He went 6.2 innings of four-hit ball to defeat the Braves, 7-2. Per Kaelen Jones at MLB.com:
"I was able to get off to a good start," Stripling said. "I went through the lineup once I think [in] less than 30 pitches, so I was in a good spot, then had a 33-pitch fourth. Obviously, the two homers, then was able to limit it to that. After that, you know you're trying to get through that inning and settle down and [I] was able to do that. Went 6 2/3 and just give us a chance to win, which is what I was trying to do when I went out there."
The Dodgers have won in each of Stripling's last five starts. His performance Sunday was buoyed by Los Angeles' offense, which bounced back from a quiet night Saturday to post seven runs while collecting 10 hits.
