I'm fairly certain I've shared this pic in the past, but it's so good I figured it's worth another look. Featured above is a March 6, 1957 United Press photo of a contingent of Los Angeles politicians wooing Dodger owner Walter O'Malley at Vero Beach. (eBay Auction Link) As you can see, Duke Snider and the famed clown Emmett Kelly (the Dodger Bum) also joined them. Per the descriptor on the reverse:

It May Happen - Officials from the city of Los Angeles arrived at the Brooklyn Dodgers training camp here March 6th to confer with Dodger officials on the possibility of the team moving from Flatbush to the west coast city. Left to Right are: Kenneth Hahn, of the LA Board of Supervisors; LA Mayor Norris Poulson; Dodger slugging star Duke Snider; and Dodger President Walter O'Malley.

• This Day in Dodgers History: In 1973 the Dodgers traded outfielder Willie Davis to the Expos for relief pitcher Dr. Mike Marshall. Dr. Marshall went on to win the NL Cy Young Award that next season. He pitched in 106 games, finished 83 of them and recorded a league high 21 saves as a reliever. In 2011 the Dodgers signed free agent utilityman Jerry Hairston to a two-year $6 million contract. He would soon thereafter retire and join the Dodgers broadcast crew.

2018 Topps Archives - Hobby Boxes - The Dodgers Rookie History Autographs

As you may know, this seasons Topps Archives brand had retail and hobby boxes released on different dates - over two months apart. Why? I dunno. What I do know it that there is one insert set found in the hobby packs not found in the retail packs. Below is a look at the three Dodger cards found in that insert set. Some Dodger Goodies at SCP's Fall Auction

Ongoing is SCP's Fall Premier Auction and featured here are just a handful of Dodgers related memorabilia treasures I wanted to point out. First up is a complete game ticket to Sandy Koufax's 1965 perfect game. (Auction Link) It is just the second full ticket ever graded by PSA.

• This Day in Dodgers History: In 1940 the Brooklyn Dodgers traded John Pintar (minors), Gus Mancuso and $65,000 to the St. Louis Cardinals for soon-to-be All-Star catcher Mickey Owen. In 1941 the Dodgers traded Tony Giuliani and Van Lingle Mungo to the Minneapolis Minors of the American Association for pitcher Joe Hatten. In 1958 the Dodgers traded Gino Cimoli to the St. Louis Cardinals for former "Rookie of the Year" winner Wally Moon and Phil Paine. In 1979 the Dodgers signed outfield free agent Jay Johnstone to a two-year $300,000 contract. In 1988 the Dodgers traded Juan Bell, Brian Holton and Ken Howell to the Baltimore Orioles for Eddie Murray. In 2002 the Dodgers traded  Mark Grudzielanek and Eric Karros to the Chicago Cubs for Chad Hermansen and Todd Hundley.

Blog Kiosk: 12/3/2018 - Dodgers Links - Dave Roberts Signed to Four-Year Deal

Sometimes you need just a bit of luck.

Featured above is a October 3, 1952 International News Press Photo (eBay auction link) featuring Dodger skipper Chuck Dressen before the start of game three of the World Series. Per the descriptor on the reverse:

Manager Charles (Chuck) Dressen of the National League Champion Brooklyn Dodgers makes it double in crossed fingers to scare odd the "Whammy" before the start of the third game od the 1952 World Series at Yankee Stadium today. Dressen's Brooks took the series opened, 4-2 and sropped the secon to the Yanks to the tune of 7 to 1 to even the contest at one game apiece. Hurling for the Brooks will be done by Preacher Rowe today and for the Yanks it will be Ed Lopat. Photo by Sonnee Gottlieb.

I don't know if I've ever seen a photo like this of Ebbets Field. Featured above is said to be a 1956 UPI press photo showing a gaggle of Brooklyn Dodger fans milling about within the bowels of Ebbets Field (eBay Auction Link).

Clearly under that stadium grandstands, there appears to be a ticket sales booth in the background and a large advertisement telling fans to send your kin to Dodgertown Camp in Vero Beach over the winter.

Best yet, a 'No Gambling' sign is seen, as well.

The only other photo I've seen of the innards of the historic stadium was of the famed rotunda, so this pic is a welcomed change. Below are more links to check out:

• This Day in Dodgers History: In 1952, on a local NBC TV program called "Youth Wants to Know," Jackie Robinson charged that the New York Yankees management is racist for its failure to scout, sign and bring up black players. GM George Weiss of the Yanks denied the allegations, saying that the team welcomed black ballplayers, "good enough to make the team." (The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, 12/1/1952, p. 11)  Elston Howard would become New York's first black player in 1955. In 1995 the Dodgers signed free agent shortstop Greg Gagne to a two-year $5.6 Million contract. The speedy infielder slashed .253/.315/.359/.673 with an 1.9 WAR for Los Angeles.
